Parents get RI for torturing kid

A court in Delhi sentenced parents of a three-year-old boy to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for brutally torturing the kid. Further, a fine of Rs. 50,000 was also imposed on the parents. While the child's father worked in the army, his mother reportedly died and it was his stepmother who gave the much heard and read, step-motherly treatment to the boy.
The reports indicated that the child has developed multiple strokes, cerebral palsy besides multiple fractures due to the physical torture by the parents. The doctors, who conducted tests on the kid, have said that the child was 90 per cent disabled.
The sessions court has convicted retired army office Lalit Balhara (boy's father) and his wife Preeti for attempting to murder the baby. The couple early pleaded for leniency and today the court sentenced rigorous imprisonment.
