Angered Mamatha fires up against P Chidambaram
P Chidambaram's remarks on the culture of violence irated Mamatha Banarjee to which she reacted by countering his statements on the number of deaths in the state. The "letter war" was similat to the incident between the former chief minister of Bengal and Chidambaram last year on the issue of the CPM cadres' presence in the state.
Mamatha had refuted Chidambaram's claim of 81 political killing cases by presenting the figures she presented in the assembly which stated that only five such incidents had happened this year. She also questioned him about his claims as law and order was an issue of the state. She blatantly thrashed out on Chidambaram's claims saying that there were conspiracies.
The Centre had subtly taken revenge by holding up the government's role in the acquisition of land for private companies which was being opposed by the chief of Trinamool since the Singur Movement of 2007.
Pradesh Congres' spokesperson Abdul Mannan reacting on her actions said “ Mamatha was against Centre because she was frustrated with her failure against Congress in the presidential election”.
