Kerala CM wants Malayalam to be recognized as classical lang

Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy has said that the state government would approach the Government of India for getting classical language status to Malayalam. The chief minister has requested the Centre to review the decision of an expert committee, which has striked down the appeal made by Kerala. He has also said that Malayalam was 1,500 years old.
