Are `Elephants’ haunting Rahul in dreams?

A question posed by a BSP strong man must have sent the young scion in fits of aggression. Because the young leader must be feeling otherwise that the BSP must be haunted with his excess campaign.
The schedule for campaigning ends in Uttar Pradesh, where the first phase of polls have ended on Sunday and the polls are scheduled for February 08. Both the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Congress have vigorously campaigned for the polls. BSP wants to retain and the Congress wants to regain. Both political parties have been engaged in a tough verbal duel in the lead up to the polls as part of the a large four-cornered contest that also has the Samajwadi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the other two key players. Now let us see what the parties have to say about each other.
On Saturday, BSP National General Secretary Satish Chandra Mishra was confident of victory in the first phase. He said the party symbol elephant haunts Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in his dreams. "The BSP symbol haunts Rahul in his dream as it is all set to reach New Delhi. He (Rahul) stays and roams in foreign countries, but calls UPites beggars. What is he doing in UP at this time...," Mr. Mishra asked at an election rally
On the same day another Gandhi scion Priyanka Gandhi Vadra dismissed the general appeals that have linked the poll results - win or loss - to Rahul Gandhi's electoral credibility. Priyanka, the most popular face of Congress in her election address at Amethi, diplomatically said, `It's not a matter of pride for Rahul to win this election. You already have given your love and affection to Rahul. That matters even more.’ The Congress had won eight Lok Sabha seats out of the 22 in 2009 in same constituencies that go to polls on Wednesday. Priyanka was all praise for her brother's efforts to rebuild the Congress in Uttar Pradesh.
On the other hand BJP states that between the Congress and the BJP there is not much of a difference. BJP leader Balbir Punj said, `In the present context in Uttar Pradesh, there is not much difference between the hand (symbol of Congress) and elephant (symbol of BSP). However, there is a huge difference between what they say and do and the record of both the parties in the development of Uttar Pradesh has almost been the same.’
The situation is ripe in UP, with the voting to commence tomorrow and the verdict out within a short period. Whatever said by each other is sure to remain in the voter minds and will definitely affect the electoral gains. Let us watch the game as it unfolds. (With inputs from internet: AarKay)
