Indian Pride at London Olympics 2012, Amitabh
Legendary Indian star Amitabh Bachchan has been honoured to carry the Olympic Torch that shall kindle the Olympic cauldron in the London Olympics 2012. History will have his name imbibed as the first Indian film star to hold the Olympic torch on Thursday. The Indian Icon carried the Olympic Torch for 300 metres being a part of the global relay. The Olympic Torch was making its way through the London Borough of Southwark, with the Legendary star.

Overwhelmed Mr Bachchan said, "It is a matter of great pride and honor that I have been selected to participate as a torch bearer for this prestigious event, the London Olympics, particularly since I don't live in this country. I feel that by inviting me here today the people of the UK have honored my film industry and my country and it's a matter of great pride for us all. I am very proud to be here."

The Legend later blogged "a great story to tell the grandchildren". Not only for him but for his billion fans across the globe too.

After 69 days traveling the length and breadth of the UK, the Olympic Flame takes to the River Thames on the morning of Friday 27 July. The Flame will arrive at the Olympic Stadium today evening during the Opening Ceremony, where the cauldron will be lit and stay alight until being extinguished on the final day of the Games. The Olympics opening ceremony will begin at 9 p.m. locally. That's 4 p.m. on the east coast, 1 p.m. in the bay and the rest of the west coast. The ceremony shall begin with the sound of a 27-ton bell, the largest harmonically tuned bell in the world, forged at London's 442-year-old Whitechapel Bell Foundry, which made London's Big Ben and Philadelphia's Liberty Bell. Europe’s largest bell will ring inside the stadium to start the Shakespeare-inspired spectacle, featuring 900 children. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
