NRI suicide: Man complained against company to labour ministry

An NRI person allegedly committed suicide in Dubai on Monday, which came into light today. The police said that the dead person was identified as 36-year-old Hum. In fact, the body was beyond recognition as the person committed suicide on railway track, said police. Nonetheless, he was later identified based on a missing report filed by one of his friends, they added.

Further, the police said that the deceased person was drunk and said it was probably under the influence of alcohol the person allegedly committed suicide.  This happens to be first death on metro rail in the last three years, said police. The police also added that the the person slept on the track as the train went over him killing him on the spot.

Friend of Hum said the deceased was extremely depressed as the company allegedly delayed in sending him back to his home. Notably, couple of weeks ago Hum approached labour ministry in Dubai and apparently filed a complaint against the company he was working for. In his complaint, Hum reportedly asked labour department to direct the company he worked for to cancel his residency visa so that he can return India.

Major General Khamis Matter Al Mazeina, the deputy chief of the police in Dubai said that the company, upon the directions of labour ministry, cancelled his residency visa. However, he said the police was probing as to why the company he worked for delayed in sending him back to India.
