Missing student found dead at harbor waters

Harish Maddala, the student of Northwestern University from Long Island was reported to be missing since Saturday. After several search operations conducted by the police who were notified of the 18 year old New Hyde Park Indian student was missing he was recovered only two miles away from his University dorm in Evanston at Wilmette Harbor.

"Maddula's wallet with his Northwestern ID card and his mobile phone were found on the body," officials at the University mentioned.
Inconsolable parents of the deceased had reached Evanston on Monday but were not available for comment yesterday.

One of his cousins told the media that the loss they face was enormous. "It's a really difficult time," a teary-eyed Soumya Maddula said on Friday morning. "We were all just hoping for the best. This is kind of everyone's worse nightmare. We just want to know what happened to him, but we have no information. We're waiting just like everyone else."

Wilmette Police said that there was no sign of foul play by the looks of the body.
"On behalf of Northwestern University, I extend our deepest sympathies to Harsha's family and to his many friends at Northwestern," university president Morton Schapiro said. On Wednesday the harbor area was searched thoroughly after a tower had picked up the signal from Harsha's cellphone at 1 am. Prior to that it was known that he had been to a party off-campus at 12:30 am.

Northwestern University police Thursday had been talking to people who had seen Maddula just before  his disappearance. Maddula graduated from high school in New Hyde Park in 2011 and was a premed sophomore.
