NRI woman seeks custody of her abducted kids

A NRI woman originally from Goa now based in Qatar has moved to the Bombay High Court to seek the custody of her three kids who are also minors. Her former husband had allegedly abducted them from Qatar and brought back to Goa.

Precyla Baretto Fernandes has alleged that Collins Loius Fernandes ,her ex-husband has abducted her kids from Qatar to Goa.


With a habeas corpus petition Fernandes, with her advocate Aires Rodrigues have managed with the help of the court and the Mapusa Police to drag the former husband's brother Austin Fernandes to produce the abducted kids in the court.

The petition would be heard today by a division bench of the high court comprising Justice AP Lavande and Justice U Bakre.

On 30th January 2012, she had been granted a divorce and the legal custody of all three children in Qatar.

She had complained that her husband had abducted them from his residence and flew the kids to Goa and left them in the custody of his brother at Duler in Mapusa.

The Indian Embassy in Qatar had also written to the Chief Secretary of Goa while providing the details of the abduction and sought immediate action by the concerned authorities.

She also filed a written complaint with the Mapusa police on July 20
