Rs 600 crores in 10 hrs

Flipkart announced that on Monday the e-commerce portal made a business of Rs 600 crores [USD 100 million] as part of its “The Big Billion Day” mega sale event. The founders of Flipkart, Sachin and Binny Bhansal released a statement in which they expressed their happiness over the success of sales target.

Flipkart also stated that it got a billion hits to the site on Monday despite the complaints of 'crash and error.'  The founders defended the reports of 'crash' and added that their technical team provided constant support to the customers. Sale on Flipkart started at 8 am and most of the products under the offer and discount were sold by afternoon.

Some customers complained that they did not receive their order details despite paying for the product they bought. Customers took the technical glitches and false information provided in the site to the social media platforms. Few of them attacked Flipkart for showing the “discounted offerings” were actually priced higher than on rival e-tailing sites while in other cases, the mark-up prices were seen to have been first hiked, and then ‘discounted’ to a prices close to market rates.
