Civil authorities warn Wipro, firm denies allegations

Software giant Wipro seems to have entered the news for wrong reasons. Bangalore city civil authorities issued notices to Wipro directing the firm for paying impending property tax, which was over Rs. 19 crore. The authorities even asked Wipro to settle the due amount along with interest. Wipro denied the charges and said that it had paid the taxes well-in-advance and had all proofs over the same. In fact, the firm even said it called for a meeting with Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike to discuss the dispute.

In the notice issued to Wipro, it was mentioned that Wipro should make the payment as soon as possible failing which they (authorities) would be forced to opt severe measures as per the law. When asked whether this issue would have any impact on the business of Wipro, its chief financial officer Suresh Senapaty has said that business would not be affected at any cost over this dispute.
