Not Cut in passenger fares

The Minister of State [MoS] for Railways has ruled out the possibilities of cutting down the fares of trains just a week ahead of the presentation of the Railway budget. The minister Manoj Sinha spoke to the media in New Delhi saying the passenger fares are already low and the government is not considering the proposal to decrease them at all. According to the minister, the government is giving enough subsidy while the railways required more financial resources, the upcoming budget will also keep public interest in mind.

The fall in international crude oil prices has led to fall in diesel prices and there occurred reports about the idea of reducing the passenger fares. However, the Union Railway minister Suresh Prabhu rejected the proposal and affirmed that there won't be any change in fares.

The budget Parliament sessions will commence on February 23. The railway budget will be presented on February 26, which will be followed by the economic survey on February 27 and the union budget on February 28.
