Domestic car sales rise by 1.39%

Car sales in India rose 1.39 percent in February for the first time since September, following the recently announced excise duty cut. The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) released the data of sales of all the vehicles in the country earlier today.

Domestic passenger car sales increased 1.39% to 1,60,718 units in February from 1,58,512 units in the year-ago. Two-wheeler sales in rose 9.69% to 12,20,012 units while the sales of commercial vehicles were down 29.84% to 47,982 units, this is straight 10 month decline.

Vehicle sales across categories made an increase of 4.99 percent to 15,23,693 units from 14,51,263 units in February 2013, SIAM said in a statement.
