The biggest passenger vehicle manufacturer in India, Maruti Suzuki has plans to go bigger starting this year. Over the next two years, it revealed, the company would focus on the SUV segment which is the most preferred segment in the nation as of now. Renault’s Duster and M and M’s Rexton, among other SUV’s, capitalized on the market already.

One hybrid crossover of the popular sedan SX4 would be launched next year. The Concept car XA Alpha which made its first presence at the Auto Expo 2012 would likely take shape by 2015.

Maruti is reportedly working on Vitara, a sub-4-meter SUV like the Maruti Ertiga. There is also an SUV version of the Swift Dzire that is more likely to strike a chord with the audience given the craze for Swift range of cars for their fuel economy and price range.
