Communion wafer bleeding turns miracle in Utah

A communion wafer bleeding piece is being hailed as a miracle at a church in Utah, US.

A few of the followers claim the sacramental bread 'bled' for 3 days following communion at St. Francis Xavier Church in Kearns, Salt Lake City, after it was placed in a glass of water.

Now this strange news was being investigated by the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City.

A wafer, which is even referred as ‘host’ or ‘sacramental bread’, is believed to represent the Jesus Christ body, in the Catholic communion ceremony. It is consumed with wine which is believed to represent Jesus blood.

This miracle came out, during communion, after a young parishioner returned his host to St. Francis Xavier Church’s priest. The priest then placed into water.

A host is sacred, once consecrated and that is the reason Catholics do not throw the leftover wafer, but dissolves in water, till it loses its bread appearance.

Later, rather than a sewer, it can then be poured down a special sink, thus draining down into the ground.

The priest claims that, thin wafer not only stayed intact but began to turn blood red.

Currently, the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City has seized the host and is investigating the incident. Though the public are coming in large number to see the miracle, there are no plans to put it in public display.

Speaking about it, Monsignor M. Francis Mannion, head of the committee, said, “Recently, reports of a bleeding host at St. Francis Xavier Church in Kearns have been circulating within the diocese.”

“Monsignor Colin F. Bircumshaw, Diocesan Administrator, has appointed an ad hoc committee of individuals with various backgrounds to investigate the matter. The work of the committee is now underway. The results will be made public.”

“Whatever the outcome of the investigation, we can use this time to renew our faith and devotion in the greatest miracle -- the Real Presence of Jesus Christ that takes place at every Mass.”

Communal wafer bleed

The Catholics are believing that, for more than 1,000 years, the bread is transformed into the body and wine into Jesus Christ’s blood, during a Catholic Mass or Orthodox Liturgy.

The blood trickling from the wafer is very common, as some others say that, miracles of sacramental bread passing through a fire unharmed or been preserved for hundreds of years.
