Crime in Delhi rises

The crime in National capital increased by double in the latest stats revealed by Police in the annual review meet. A total of 1,47,230 cases were registered in 2014 which is quite high when compared to 2013 [73,902 cases]. The highest number of cases were filed on vehicle theft and chain snatching said the police stats.

Vehicle theft increased by 59 percent from 13,895 cases in 2013 to 22,223 cases in 2014. The robbery cases increased by nearly six times from 1,106 cases to 6,200 cases in 2014. The rape cases also rose by 31 percent while the attempt to murder and kidnap number was up by 32 percent. In 96 percent rape cases, the women victim knew the accused in which 28 percent of the accused are found to be in live-in relationship with the victim. Once the relationship breaks, the women are approaching the police.
