India's stand-in captain Virat Kohli scored a hundred in the first Test against Australia at Adelaide. This is Kohli's first century as captain in Tests and it is his second in Australian soil. India is fighting back to the massive total posted by Australia. The hosts have declared at 517/7 on the start of day three and India was put into bat right away.

This century is also a special one as a hundred by Indian captain took 2754 days in overseas. The full time captain MS Dhoni did not score a single century in away Tests. Rahane scored a quick half century and after his dismissal Rohit Sharma stuck to the crease.
