The Union Government on Friday sacked Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry Virendra Kataria and the announcement was made in the late hours by the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. Lt Gen [Retd.] Ajay Kumar Singh, LG of Andaman and Nicobar will take additional charge of Puducherry now. This is the first sacking by the Narendra Modi government which has so far asked the Governors of several states to resign. Virendra is the seventh Governor to face the heat of the newly formed government.
