Chandrayaan-2 Set to Enter into Lunar Orbit Today:- Chandrayaan-2, the second spacecraft of Indian mission to the moon will be inserted into the lunar orbit today morning said the Indian space agency. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) clarified that the journey was extremely smooth and is going as per the plan. ISRO will also carry out four more orbit maneuvers on August 21st, 28th, 30th and September 1st to enter into the final orbit.

ISRO said that Chandrayaan-2 will pass over the lunar poles at a distance of about 100kms from the surface of the moon. The Vikram lander will separate from the orbit on September 2nd. Chandrayaan-2 was injected into the elliptical orbit on July 22nd by Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-Mark III (GSLV Mk III). The spacecraft comprises three segments -- the Orbiter (weighing 2,379 kg, eight payloads), the lander ‘Vikram’ (1,471 kg, four payloads) and rover ‘Pragyan’ (27 kg, two payloads).
