1381 kg TTD Gold Seized: AP Orders Probe: 1381 kgs of gold belonging to Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams (TTD) has been seized by the Tamil Nadu cops when the Punjab National Bank officials were on their way to hand over the gold to the TTD. With election code in the state, the Tamil Nadu cops seized the gold. Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary LV Subramanyam asked  Special Chief Secretary, Revenue (Land and Endowments), Manmohan Singh to conduct an inquiry on the issue on the gold transportation and submit a report before May 23rd.

He wanted to find out if there are any written instructions issued by Executive Officer (EO) of the TTD, the role of the vigilance wing of TTD. The gold was seized on April 17th, a day before the Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu. This triggered controversies across Andhra Pradesh and several opposition leaders made sensational comments that the assets of TTD were misused. An inquiry is currently on a detailed report would be submitted to the Chief Secretary at the earliest.
