Finally: New Railway Zone Announced For Andhra Pradesh:- Railway Minister Piyush Goyal last evening announced a new railway zone for Andhra Pradesh. Named as Southern Coast Railway, it will be headquartered in Visakhapatnam said Piyush. A BJP delegation from Andhra Pradesh met Piyush Goyal four days ago after which the announcement is out. Despite of several attempts and protests from AP Government, the Centre never responded from the past couple of years about the promise made by Narendra Modi regarding the railway zone for AP. BJP leaders submitted a memorandum regarding the underdeveloped regions of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Vizag regions.

The Centre is now chalking out the exact route map for the Southern Coast Railway and it will cover Guntur, Guntakal and Waltair divisions from the existing zones. Waltair division is split into two parts and one of them will fall in the new zone while the other will be merged with the neighbouring Vijayawada division. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Vizag on March 1st and an announcement of Railway zone is made now in a hurry. The Assembly and Parliament elections in Andhra Pradesh are scheduled in April this year.
