Cancer Rate Taking A Rise In Telangana

Cancer Rate Taking A Rise In Telangana:- As per the latest study, the number of cancer cases in Telangana took a huge rise. Back in 1990, when the population of Telangana was one lakh, there were 54 cases registered. Now as per the current records, the number of cancer patients in Telangana are said to be 74 per one lakh population. By 2016, the number is 10.69 lakhs and the incident rate stands at 81% after it was 63% in 1990. The rate saw a jump of 28% as per the recent records.

Despite of several awareness programs arranged, the number of cancer patients have been increasing. Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) along with The Lancet published the numbers on the National Cancer Day. The study also said that the number of cancer patients doubled between 1990 and 2016. The top ten cancers are stomach, breast, lung, lip and oral cavity, pharynx other than naso-pharynx, colon and rectum, leukaemia, cervical, oesophageal, and brain and nervous system cancers.
