Female Political Activist In Saudi Faces Beheading:- Israa al-Ghomgham and her husband Moussa al-Hashem were arrested in December by the Saudi Arabian cops for organising anti-government protests in eastern Qatif province. A special Riyadh court earlier this month announced beheading for Ms Ghomgham and five other defendants under anti-terrorism legislation. Social activists are now lobbying to reverse the decision and the appeal has been scheduled to October.

According to Germany based European Saudi Organisation for Human Rights (ESOHR), Ms Ghomgham is a known human rights defender. This decision turned out to be a dangerous precedent for female activists. Ms Ghomgham has not been even allowed to access to a lawyer from the past three years. At least 58 people are currently believed to be on death in Saudi Arabia. The news created a sensation across the globe.
