SC Rejects Permission To Track Social Media Accounts Of Citizens:- The Supreme Court today rejected the proposal of tracking the social media platforms and posts of the citizens. The Centre's plea has been rejected and the top court revealed that the India would turn out to be a surveillance state if made so. TMC legislator filed a petition against the proposal made by the Centre to start a 'Social media Communication Hub'. The Centre wanted the permissions to analyze the content at the district level.

TMC legislator Mahua Moitra filed a petition that the proposal violates the rights of the people. Reacting to the arguements, the Supreme Court rejeccted the permissions to track facebook, twitter and other social media platforms. The bench issued a notice to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and sought a formal reply. The next hearing has been announced for August 3rd. There are talks that the Centre has been in plans to target the individuals against the government schemes.
