The veteran comedian has been staying away from films from the past few months due to ill health. Telangana CM's relief fund and Megastar Chiranjeevi supported the actor for his treatment and Gundu Hanumantha Rao underwent dialysis and has been recovering.

However his health deteriorated and he breathed his last today at 3.30 AM in his residence in SR Nagar, Hyderabad. The actor is a recipient of three Nandi Awards and his performance has been widely appreciated by the Tollywood audience. Gundu Hanumantha Rao has done several serials.
