TS Govt Plans To Give Pension Soon To Filariasis Patients:- Medical and Health Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy said that the Telangana State government is planning to give pension to people affected by filariasis in the Telangana.

The Minister, responding to a question raised by Dr J Geetha Reddy and other members in Legislative Assembly, said that after the formation of Telangana State, the spread of filariasis in the State had come down.

“We have been taking due care to prevent spread of diseases in the State by carrying out mass drug administration programmes,” Reddy said.

Mr. Laxma Reddy, considering the difficulties of filariasis-affected patients said that with the approval of the government the department has started encouraging use of western toilets. Moreover, it is also providing financial assistance to procure the same. The Minister said that the previous governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh failed to even consider it. He further stated that it was a long pending proposal to give pensions to filariasis patients.

“We brought it to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and soon a decision would be taken to distribute pension to filariasis patients,” the Minister said.
