KTR Sanctions Rs 26cr For Gadwal Development Works:- Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao on Tuesday has promised to release Rs 26 crore for the Gadwal Municipality development works within a week.

KTR also assured to develop a hand loom and textile cluster in Gadwal, and also to financially empower local weavers and support them to reach out to new markets. Gadwal is quite famous for its handloom sarees.

Seeking support for development of the district, a group led by Gadwal district in-charge and Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister called on Rama Rao at the Secretariat in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Besides SC Community Hall and Eidgah in the town, the TRS Gadwal Assembly constituency in-charge Krishna Mohan Reddy and municipal councilors urged the Minister to sanction CC roads, parks, and drainage. Rama Rao, responding to their wish list, assured complete support and release of necessary funds within a week.

The Minister informed the people’s representatives that a hand-loom cluster will be established in Gadwal and consultant firm (ILNFS) had already submitted a report in this regard.

“Weavers will be given skill development training as well as exposed to new marketing opportunities through the cluster. Around 2,000 weavers will be benefited,” he said.

He also inquired about the problems faced by weavers and impact of the government initiatives for their uplift. Weavers also urged the Minister to consider waiving off their loans obtained for operating handlooms and powerlooms which have become a major burden to them.
