BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj Supports Dera Chief Ram Rahim Singh:- After the Dera Sacha Sauda chief, Ram Rahim Singh was convicted in a rape case by a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Panchkula, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sakshi Maharaj came out in support of him on Friday. However, the party distanced itself from Maharaj’s support to the Dera Chief.

BJP leader Kailash Vijaywargiya said the party does not support Maharaj’s stance and that of it was not right to question the judicial system. “I don’t support his statement. It was his personal view. I think it is not right to question the judicial system,” he said.

“Crores of people follow him (Gurmeet Ram Rahim). Why are we not listening to them? Why are we listening to one person (the victim). Gurmeet Ram Rahim is a noble soul. This is a conspiracy to defame Indian culture and the holy people. If there is further violence, the courts will be responsible,” Maharaj had said.

“There is so much of ruckus over it, law and order has been disturbed, people are dying... Shouldn't this be a consideration,” he added. “Can the Supreme Court or High Court call the Shahi Imam (head) of Jama Masjid in this manner? He is also wanted in many cases... Is he their relative? Ram Rahim is a simple man so he is being harassed,” Maharaj said.

After the Dera chief was convicted in a rape case, at least 30 people were killed and more than 250 injured as violence erupted in Haryana and Punjab. On August 28, the quantum ok of punishment will be pronounced.

The Dera Sacha Sauda chief was taken to Rohtak by helicopter, after being convicted.
