Telangana To Wait For Modi’s Response On GST

Telangana To Wait For Modi’s Response On GST:- After the implementation of one tax named GST by the Indian government, several states had concerns. Telangana state wanted to step out with a legal war against Narendra Modi’s BJP government over the 12% GST on public utility projects. However Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao held a meeting on Sunday to revive about their decision of a legal war. KCR finally decided to wait for the response of Prime Minister Narendra Modi after which the Telangana government will take a call. KCR decided to write a letter to the Prime Minister which will urge him to reduce the GST on the ongoing projects to 5 percent.

The GST council met on Saturday in New Delhi after which they reduced the GST from 18 percent to 12 percent but the Telangana government was not satisfied. It was KCR who threatened to take a fight by approaching the court.  A special review meeting has been held on Sunday with the top officials over the GST that has been levied on the construction schemes. The government’s concern is how GST has been levied from July 1st on all the projects that started in June. It was 5 percent VAT which was applicable. KCR discussed about this with various officials that are to be written in the letter.

The expenditure statistics information is yet to be available after which KCR will write a letter to the Prime Minister. The officials will meet KCR today after which an update will be arrived. For schemes like Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya, GST will be a huge burden informed the officials and KCR is quite confident on getting a positive nod from Narendra Modi. KCR’s detailed letter will explain Modi about the burden Telangana state will have to face informed an official from the team. The next plan of action will be taken after Modi comes with a reply.
