Centre Releases Rs 450 crore To TS Under Backward Areas Development Scheme:- Under the backward areas development scheme, the Central government has released Rs 450 crore to the Telangana State government, for the current financial year.

The Centre has been releasing Rs 450 crore every year at the rate of Rs 50 crore each for nine districts, as per the assurance given in the AP Reorganization Act.

Since the last two months, the State Government has been exerting pressure on the Centre to release the funds for the current financial year. However, for the funds already released under the scheme, the Centre had insisted on submission of utilization certificates, before it releases fresh funds.

The state government had sent utilization certificates twice, but the Union finance ministry was not satisfied. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao during his recent visit to Delhi, had discussed the release of funds with finance minister Arun Jaitley.
