TS Govt Orders Closure Of All Non-Functional Bore wells By July 10?:- The Telangana State Government has ordered the district authorities to fill up all non-functional borewells by July 10.

This move comes in the wake of a baby losing her life after accidentally falling into an uncover ed borewell at Chevella village in Ranga Reddy district recently.

Those who do not close their non-functional borewells before the deadline, a fine of Rs 50,000 will be imposed on them, said State Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao. A survey of borewells, which are not in use will also be undertaken, directed the Minister.

He added that, “Those who wishing to dig a fresh bore well should obtain a permission 15 days in advance failing which a penalty of Rs1 lakh will be imposed,” he added.

The officials identified nearly 95 defunct open borewells in 13 mandals of the district, recently in Siricilla district. The largest number of borewells i.e. 32 were identified in Mustabad mandal, 17 in Thangallapalli mandal, 10 in Gambhiraopeta, 11 in Yellareddypet mandal and 7 in Vemulawada.
