AP Stands Second In Corruption? : Says Study

As per the survey, conducted by an organization, Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the second-most corrupt state, among the 20 states.

Some interesting facts were revealed by the Centre for Media Studies, foremost of which was that, the overall corruption in the country was on the depreciation, when compared to 2005. Based on the general perception of the people about corruption and their actual experience with corruption in utilizing public services, the study was conducted. In AP, around 38% of the people were of the view that corruption has increased and 58% remarked that it has remained the same.

The study also revealed that the perception of the people about increase in corruption has come down from 73% in 2005 to 43% in 2017. An average of 31% of the people responded that they have paid bribes to get public services, when it comes to experiencing corruption in public services. Comparing the higher corruption levels, than the national average, Karnataka, stands first with 77%, Andhra Pradesh with 74%, Tamil Nadu (68%), Maharashtra (57%), Jammu and Kashmir (44%) and Punjab (42%) are the most corrupt in the country.
