YSRCP MLA Roja Detained at Gannavaram Airport

YSR Congress party’s MLA and actress R K Roja was taken into custody after she reached Gannavaram airport. Roja was going to attend the National Women’s Parliament which is being organised by the Andhra Pradesh government.

She arrived at the airport at the invitation of the government and also listed herself as a delegate, like all other MLAs. However, after arriving at the airport she police caught her and did not allow to move forward.

She was `detained’ because Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama was about to reach the airport to catch a flight. Police did not allow her to go anywhere for about an hour.

Later police shifted her to Vijayawada. Even there she was not permitted to go to her hotel room. Instead, police took her towards Nallapadu of Guntur district.

It seems that the government is assuming she may lift `growing atrocities on women’ while TDP regime in the state. Strongly rebuking police attitude, the actress questioned that after inviting her for the meeting why the police have been stopping to take part in it.

“The government extended the invitation to me, issued a pass to me, but after reaching airport police preventing me to move forward,” she added.

On one side by arranging a national conclave focusing on the rights of women, she said "how can Chandrababu Naidu government resorts to prevent a women MLA. "

YSRCP official spokesperson and former MLA Jogi Ramesh has completely disliked the attitude of the police.

He accused that this will reflect the state of respect Chandrababu Naidu is giving to women, he said they "would question the DGP about police unwarranted attitude."
