Countrywide alerts on Milk, Water and Edible oil packs

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) made an emergency alert to all the states in the country to eye upon milk, packaged drinking water and edible oils.

The FSSAI has come to know that there is some adulteration being done on the food commodities and so made the alert to all the states. According to the sources, the authorities ordered all the food safety commissioners to increase the surveillance activities, giving a special focus on the above mentioned packaged products especially.

Collection of samples for testing

It further ordered the food commissioners, to collect the food samples of all the products for a comprehensive testing.

Water

"State food departments have been asked to be more vigilant to increase surveillance activities, especially on milk, water and edible oil. Serious violations of labeling requirements have been observed," one of the officials said.

Foods like noodles, pasta and macaroni underwent a strict scrutiny by the FSSAI in the last month. The regulator also ordered a withdrawal of Nestle’s Maggi upon finding added monosodium glutamate (MSG) and excess of lead than the prescribed limit, letters were also sent to companies like Kellogg's and Heinz, asking them to explain labeling on their products.

Detergent in milk:

A few days back, the UP food safety regulator alleged Mother dairy, saying that, it is adding detergent in the milk produced by it. However the company denied the charges, stating that, they conduct "stringent quality tests" and the substandard milk was just a wrong attribution.

On the other side, the various leading brands like Tata Starbucks, Nestle, Ranbaxy and many others have already been rejected their approvals upon finding the adulteration in the foods.

Andhrawishesh view

To tackle the competition with the fellow competitors, a few of the companies are indulging in these types of activities, but the thing to be noted is, no crime would be lasting forever. There would be an end to every crime the people commit. At that time, other than cursing ourselves, there would be nothing left. So it would be better if they stop committing these illegal activities, Hope they gain the confidence of the people again by making quality foods.
