Srilankan PM Warns Indian Fishermen

The differences between India and Srilanka regarding the coastal issues have been becoming big. The other day Srilankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe has made some strong comments on Indian fishermen during his interview to a Tamil news channel. He said “Indian fishermen will be shot if they cross the border and enter into the Srilankan coast. If anyone tries to enter my house, my law allows me to shoot and I am not bothered if he is dead”. These comments were made by the Prime Minister during his interview to Thanti TV last night.

The fishermen from both sides are due to talk to each other regarding this and even Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has scheduled his trip to Srilanka next week to discuss about this. Wickramasinghe also said “ Why should Indian fishermen enter our waters? If you stay on Indian side, there won’t be any issue. Katchatheevu is a part of Srilanka and not India. Even Delhi also thinks that Katchatheevu is from Srilanka. Only Tamil Nadu thinks it belongs to India. These are Tamil politics”. Along with these Ranil Wickramasinghe also made some strong statements on former President Mahinda Rajapaksa for giving money to LTTE leader V Prabhakaran during the 2005 elections.
