Andhra Pradesh government is now scouting for a brand ambassador who can endorse the state at national and international level so that it also helps the state in all terms. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is heard to be very keen in having a brand ambassador for the state. Earlier Gujarat has roped Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan while the UPA government has appointed Vidya Balan on various segments, which have brought good results to them. Recently the newly born state of India, Telangana roped Sania Mirza as brand ambassador of the state and with her win in the US Open 2014, Telangana got the attention it needed.

Chandrababu believes that brand ambassadors will take the government welfare schemes deep into the public and also helps people to participate in government activities. However, AP CM wants to hire a credible person with immense popularity and clean background, so that no issue would arise after the appointment of ambassador is done. Sania Mirza appointment as brand ambassador as turned out into a national issue as BJP leaders called her 'daugher-in-law' of Pakistan as she is married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. Just after appointing Sania as Telangana brand ambassador, rumors floated that Tollywood Superstar Mahesh Babu might become the ambassador of AP state but there were no development in these rumors.
