Stopped endorsing Pepsi because of a girl: Amitabh

Bollywood legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan on Thursday said he stopped endorsing Pepsi, a soft drink brand because of a school going girl who questioned him why he is endorsing it. The senior Bachchan was at IIM Ahmedabad institute for interactive session on celebrity endorsement and said, “when I was at Jaipur for a school event, a  girl questioned me, why I'm promoting Pepsi which she claimed it as poison. And I did not reply immediately.”

After thinking a lot about it, Mr. Bachchan gave the endorsement of Pepsi and from then on did not endorse any soft drink. “The impression we create is on the people, so I stopped endorsing Pepsi. I tell the same to my son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya also...if you have to endorse a product then you have to conduct your life in such a manner that it does not affect others' lives,” added Big B. However, the Pepsi spokesperson declined to comment on Amitabh's remark. He acted as the brand ambassador of Pepsi from the year 2002 to 2005.

Amitabh Bachchan is currently the brand ambassador of Gujarat Tourism and has been actively campaigning for it.
