Half Won Congress

Half Won Congress

AICC President Sonia Gandhi's statement that a Government Committee will be constituted by the UPA government to resolve the issues connected to the decision to bifurcate the State of Andhra Pradesh.  She talked for the first time in public about the bifurcation issue since CWC’s announcement on it.  As so far the announcements are being made by others, Sonia Gandhi seems to have decided to give authenticity to the decision on Telangana and wanted to reassure the people of Telangana about her sticking to it firmly.

The announcement at this time should in fact be welcomed by all as it obviates counter protests from Telangana.  But the political analysts also say that the motive behind the announcement is quite clear and does not need an expertise to understand it that Congress party’s immediate move is to make TRS to merge with Congress party so that the party will have a firm footing in the new State of Telangana and hold it for many tenures to come.

Telugu Desam Party says that the idea of Congress party is to win in both the new bifurcated States- in Telangana by announcing Telangana State and merging TRS with Congress and in Seemandhra by merging YSR Congress party.  Even if it is not merged it may support UPA Government after getting a firm hold on Seemandhra by winning the hearts of the Seemandhra people by opposing bifurcation.

That way the Congress party has planned to win over the State by bifurcating.  The plan if succeeds, will wipe off the opposition to the Congress party.  TRS is the main opposition in Telangana region which will give way by merging and the TDP can be checked by getting support from YSR Congress.  The party which was feared of losing the State has already won half of the State now by announcing Telangana and remaining half will be worked out slowly.

TDP leader Rajakumari and other leaders wonder when the Prime Minister resigned and Sonia took hold of the Government to announce a Government Committee on State bifurcation.
