Hyderabad is going to have a regular 3 hours power cuts now till further notification. Many eyebrows rose for the power cuts in autumn that too for an indefinite period as power cuts are generally accepted in summer.
The schedules of the power cuts at different parts of the City at different times are released by the CPDPL. The power cut of 3 hours is split into two at two different periods.
CPDCL director K Venkata Narayana says, "Load reliefs in the city will continue for some more time till the thermal power generation is improved. Power cuts are being imposed only during day time (6 am to 6 pm).”
Although the reason for the load shedding is officially stated as the shortage of coal supply and fall of hydel power generation, the real reason as per the general opinion is because of the non-functioning of the Government departments as the Ministers and CM were busily engaged in a race for the personal political gains.
Hyderabad needs power to the extent of 1800 MW per day where as CPDCL is getting only 1600 MW per day for the distribution which made the power cuts necessary as the CPDCL Director says.
