People remembered Karthik, not Naga Chaitanya July 24, 2010 11:50

When did you decide to make acting as your career?I spend my first 19 years in Chennai and then shifted to Hyderabad. I was bitten by acting bug in my 2nd year of college. I used to go to sets of dad movies. I expressed my wish to dad and he asked me to join a short course in acting. I went to Mumbai during summer vacation and did a short acting course in ‘creating characters’. After completing my B. Com. I went to LA and did another acting course. I also got trained in martial arts and gymnastics for 5 months over there.Your debut movie has a new director (Vasu Varma). Your second movie had Gowtam Menon who never had direct hit in Telugu. Your next movie has Ajay Bhuyan directing it and his debut film is unreleased. Being the son of Nagarjuna, you could get any big commercial director (Rajamouli, Trivikram, Seenu Vytla, VV Vinayak, Puri Jagan etc). Why are taking risks for each and every movie? We have great film directors in Telugu film industry. I spoke the most of the top commercial directors. They told me that because they are stuck in commercial mold, they can’t break free and do different cinemas. Most of them end up making commercially appealing filmsonly. If I do any hit film with any of these directors, audiences don’t allow me to do different movies. If I get a commercial blockbuster, audiences/trade people would be looking for my next movie to collect better than earlier movie. If I get a big commercial blockbuster, I could never do Ye Maya Chesave (YMC) as a follow up project. I want to start small and prove myself with good and meaningful films before embarking on big commercial projects. What is the feedback (positive & negative) you got about YMC?Positive: They are saying that I have improved a lot compared to my first film. It feels happy to know that I had grown as an actor.Negative: They say that my face is little stiff and expressions are less. I underplayed my characters in Josh and YMC. Probably that might have given them such an impression. Tell us about your next movie?I am doing an energetic character in my next movie. It will be a commercial entertainer with action orientation. I love action part and martial arts. This film will be directed by Ajay Bhuyan and produced by D Siva Prasad Reddy. What kind of movies do you like?I like films of all genres except for Horror.Tell us about your fitness/diet regime?I am kind of guy who thoroughly enjoys fitness. I never miss gym. Diet is very crucial for my career. I am very strict with my diet and indulge in food completely just for one day a week.Any message to ONLINE visitors?I like it more because it gives healthy content and restrains from gossip and unconfirmed news. Since we can’t meet audiences personally, net provides the best way to get to know what people think through user comments, user reviews, blogs and discussion boards. Thanks to ONLINE for providing us a great feedback.

Bikini? Bring it on... August 20, 2010 14:04

Priyamani is one actress who knows how to be in news. Be it her film offers or her sexy on screen image, actress Priyamani always manages to make headlines. And when there’s nothing about her films, it’s the rumours surrounding her personal life that make news. The girl truly knows how to get the arc lights shining on her all the time.I am not married..The latest dope on the beautiful Priyamani is the reports claiming that she had married her Tollywood co-star Tarun. But Priyamani has denied it all and said, “Some jobless persons are involved in spreading such rumours,” Priyamani lashed out.“I last met Tarun three years back when we did a movie together. I have not in touch with him. I don’t even know what he is currently doing,” says the actress, playing down reports appeared in a section of the media on her wedding. ‘I’m happy people are recognising now...’Though Priyamani has done many good films in her career, it’s only now that she has got her due from the audience and filmmakers. “It’s taken me five years to get here. It’s only after Paruthi Veeran that people started noticing my acting skills. But I’m happy I found fame after much struggle rather than becoming a superstar in my first film,” explains the actress.Bikini? Bring it on...Priyamani became a sensation when pictures of her in a bikini in the movie Drona went on air. “I wore the bikini in Drona for fun. Besides, after Nayantara in Billa, there was this notion that no other actress would be willing to wear a bikini. But my director felt I’d look good in it. I too was convinced and felt wearing a bikini would be a change from my usual image. It drew its share of reviews — both good and not-so-good ones. I also haven’t got any new offers to wear a bikini,” says a candid Priya.Confident and demanding...Priyamani has also hiked her prices, which has not gone down well with the film fraternity. Some filmmakers are of the opinion that success has gone into Priya’s head and she has become overconfident. But the beautiful lass is proud of what she has achieved and thinks she’s on the right track. “There’s nothing wrong in hiking my price. I’ve delivered three consecutive hits, so I think it’s justified. And tell me which actress doesn’t hike her price these days? And I’m only asking for my market value — pay me my price and I’ll do your film,” she asserts. Bollywood calling...Amidst all the rumours and gossips, Priyamani is happy that she got a chance to work with Mani Ratnam. “Working with Mani is like a dream come true for me,” says the actress who will make her Bollywood debut with Mani Ratnam’s Raavan. Priya will play the role of Shurpanakha, Raavan’s (Abhishek Bachchan) sister.Back home in South, post the success of ‘Ninaithale Inikkum’, Priyamani will soon pair up with Prithviraj again for a Tamil film.Thirakkatha, a Malayalam movie which had the actor and the actress in lead roles, is being dubbed into Tamil as ‘Kadhal Mudichu’. Directed by Renjith, the movie is a satirical story about film making. Prithviraj plays the role of an aspiring director while Priyamani will play a popular actress.

I am not an exception to it July 19, 2010 12:41

How was your film career? It looks you are facing several ebbs and tides? Isn’t it?Of course, yes. For any debutant hero, there will be hiccups and I am not an exception to it. Name : PrabhasDate of Birth & Place : Oct 23, 1979 Chennai.Height : 6′ 2″First movie : Eeshwar, 2002 It looks most of your films had mother sentiment and at the same time you are preferring to do action movies?Though your contention is true, it was just a coincidence and unintentional. When you are talking about mother sentiment, I have no option but to say that all my previous four films had mother sentiment. When it comes to action subjects, I have a point to mention. Whenever I tried to come out of the action image and try my hand in other subjects, they are turning out to be failures. For instance, ‘Chakram and Pournami’ films have less action backdrop. Now that I realised that the audiences are expecting action films from me and the success of ‘Varsham and Chatrapati’ proved it.What aspects you look into while accepting an offer and what are your plans for your future movies?I always look for variety. There should be some variation and my films should not be stereotype and there should be some difference. Regarding future plans, I am trying to test my hand in films with lots of commercial elements and at the same time it should have as much as entertainment value. What is your favorite film in Telugu? Which kind of films do you like most?I don’t have any special interest in a particular kind of films. I watch all the films with equal interest. However, my all-time favourite is ‘Geetanjali.’ Personally, I like films with sentiment in its backdrop.Which film did you like most in your movies?I like ‘Chatrapati’ among all the films in my career. Next comes ‘Pournami’. I also feel that ‘Yogi’ is another good film in my career. However, ‘Pournami and Yogi’ fail to ring the Box Office on expected lines. Though ‘Varsham’ was a big hit in the beginning of my career, I feel that I could have done better with a little more homework. Though I faced some hiccups during the ‘Chatrapati’ shooting, that film gave me an immense satisfaction as an artist.

Known for glamourous roles July 15, 2010 14:34

You are known for glamourous roles. So what made you do this de-glam role?I did this film with Buddhadev Dasgupta called KAALPURUSH, which was de-glamourous. It won the National Award also. It changed my life. It changed me as an actress. I began to understand the nuances of acting. Perhaps, that is one of the reasons which prompted me to do RED ALERT. Bollywood is fun. It has a lot of dance and music. It is fun doing roles like RACE where you are completely dumb. But to actually get into a role and understand the reason behind doing it is something else. It's a very different high. You are playing a naxalite in the film. Can you tell us more about your role? The character that I'm playing is of a very run-of the-mill girl who gets raped by the police. She is picked up by a naxalite camp. Then she begins to understand the motives of the naxalites. The film is trying to say that nobody is born a terrorist. They take up terrorism because of some reason. Were you skeptical about doing such a serious role?It is just a responsibility. I had to make sure that I did not hurt anyone's sentiments. It is a very hard hitting subject. You can't take it lightly. People will ask you if you are on the government's side or are you supporting the naxals. We are not taking any sides. We are just raising an issue and giving you a story around it. We will see you holding a gun and shooting in this film. How comfortable were you with it?I used a gun in MUSAFIR. At that time, it was very difficult. I held back and started shouting. It's very weird to hold a gun with all the dust flying off. What are your future projects?I have a film staring in September which I can't talk about. You will know in a week about it. I have finished Nagesh Kukunoor's YEH HONSLA which I'm waiting for Percept to release. Because of the global recession, many films were stalled. Now, a lot of them are being released. You are doing many films down South...Yes, it's mind blowing in the South. They call me the busiest girl in town. My Tamil film, VAARANAM AAYIRAM won the National Award. I hope one of my Hindi films also wins one too.

Kriti Karbanda in Teen Maar April 21, 2011 15:27

Working with Pawan is a pleasant experience - Kriti Karbanda ‘Teen Maar’, the remake of ‘Love Aaj Kal’ has opened to full houses in entire AP and overseas. As the talks of this movie becoming a hit make rounds in the circle, the jubilant heroine, Kriti Karbanda, who played the role of Vasumathi chatted with the press. A few excerpts are: Kriti claims the days and occasions working with Pawan Kalyan as pleasant experience.   After her debut through ‘Boni’, it took quite a bit of time for her to resurface in Tollywood through ‘Teen Maar’ which she considers herself as lucky one. On her role in ‘Teen Maar’ she said that it was a very simple but expressive role which has received much appreciations from whoever has seen the movie.  The role doesn’t have many dialogues but communication through expressions and emotions.  Infact, she went to the extent of quoting some comments from viewers appreciating her role looking like a real lover of Pawan Kalyan. On her experience with her co-star Pawan Kalyan she said that he has proved wrong the cautioning from many that he was a very reserved person.  She confirms to have enjoyed the every moment of the 37 days of her shooting time and conveyed her deep desire to do more films with him. On the director Jayanth C Paranjee she said that Jayanth was aware of her much before this film and infact offered a role while she was busy shooting for ‘Boni’.  It was due to objections from the director Ramana Gogula that she could not accept the offer of Jayanth earlier.  She thanked Jayanth for the present offer which she got after meeting him couple of times. On her entry into the films she said that it was something like a dream comes true for a Delhi born Bangalore brought up B.Com graduate.  She attributed her getting chance in movies through Trisha’s recommendation which made it possible in ‘Boni’.  And thus she expressed her happiness in doing the 2nd film with the same well wisher. On favourite stars, she was too quick to say the names of Jyothika and Trisha. Kriti claims to have received appreciations for her traditional look in half-saree and felt very happy for such a reward for her hard work.  She finally expressed her hopes of receiving more offers due to this role.

Dookudu Girl Samantha Interview January 10, 2011 15:12

It looks like the year 2011 is going to be very busy for you, with both films and   endorsements that you are being flooded with…  Gautham Menon bags the entire credit for giving me a dream start in Telugu cinema   industry. Right now I can say that I have got four movies in my kitty. There is ‘Dookudu’   with Mahesh Babu, Gautham Menon’s ‘Erra Gulabilu’, Rajamouli’s ‘Eega’ and Vinayak’s movie.   But I would not want to talk about movies that are not yet finalized, as I am a bit   superstitious. Coming to endorsements, it is awesome to be flooded with offers of   inaugurations. Perhaps people think that I am lucky for them. I consider it an honour or   whenever someone invites me for inaugurations.  How was it working with Prince Mahesh Babu?  Perhaps it is the most asked question for me. Everybody is asking me this question. I   think Mahesh is extremely chilled out. After the super success of “Ye Maya Chesave” I had   no idea as what to do next, I was in pressure and constantly worrying. And Mahesh Babu   suggested me, “Do what the director wants, treat every movie as if it’s your first.” I   have been following this advice religiously.  You are part of S.S.Rajamouli’s movie…  I am undoubtedly excited to be doing ‘Eega’. When Rajamouli sir offered me the role in the   movie, I knew I need not have to look at script. I am really happy to be a part of the   movie. I needed to do a film like that very badly.  Are you looking forward for art films too?  I would love to do any genre as long as I don’t get stereotyped. May be my physical   attribute doesn’t let me to do action sequences as Angelina Jolie does in “Tomb Raider”   but I would love to try new roles. I have entered movies instinctively, but now I love it.  What is the secret behind your seraphic look?  I do not think I am beautiful. I guess it is all about the roles I do and the sincerity   with which I do my work. I think that is what makes people accept me.  What are your resolutions for 2011?  Hmmm to work hard and do the most that I can, especially work in some nice movies. I am a   disciplined person and I almost behave like a grandmother. If I had to add more to my   resolutions I would become more disciplined and more grandmotherly.

I kept running away from it September 13, 2010 10:49

She`s sexy, single and currently, the talk of the town. An interview with Rab Ne Bana Di`s Anushka Sharma and what kind of guy she`s looking for in real life!Adi Chopra believed the film was made by Rab. What`s your opinion on the quote?Absolutely correct. Me being a part of this film is also because of Rab because now that I`ve done this film, in a strange way I believe that everything that has happened in my life before this has kind of structured to get me to this. In terms of me moving to Mumbai, me not being too exposed in spite of being in the modelling world for quite some time, etc, all helped me get Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. It was entirely Rab`s blessings for all of us, not for me alone. The recently updated UK figures have grossed almost half a million pounds in seven days for your film. Are you going to be a million-dollar baby by the end of two weeks?Actually I don`t understand figures very well. I do ask Yash Raj how the film is doing at the box office and what the people are thinking about it. But as you`re telling me that the film has grossed half a million pounds, I`m sure the people are going to the cinemas and watching it. But I wanted everyone to come out of the theatres and scream on top of their voice - `What a film man! I`m going and watching it the next time`. It feels good to be a part of a successful film and even special when you know that you`ve contributed towards the success. Will the success of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi take your feet off the ramp? This film happened by chance but modelling was something that I always wanted to do. I`ve never said that I wanted to be Miss World or an actress. I just wanted to be a model walking the ramp. Whether I will return back to the ramp is all up to Rab now. Let`s see.Are you happy with the unhappy response from quite a few critics from the media world?Yeah, I heard that many critics haven`t taken the film very well. But that`s fine. Everyone is entitled to their own individual opinion and they are viewers after all. I respect all the critics` opinion. How critical were your parents after watching the film?My elder brother will never pay me any compliment because he is harsh. And so is my dad. After watching the film my brother said, `You can act, huh`. For my mother, I`m the best in the world. My dad was impressed though. You made my friend and colleague who was sitting next to me while watching the film cry. Why?Really? Actually I wanted everyone to cry. My friends called me up saying that they really enjoyed the film and had fun throughout. But in return I asked them whether they cried watching the same. I wanted them to cry. If someone has cried, they are feeling for you and your character. I guess it`s nice in a way. So tell me, are your parents going to look out for a boy like Surinder or Raj for your marriage? My father always says, `You please go and find a boy for yourself because I doubt if I will ever find one for you`. I tend to go the hyper way sometimes which is fine because that`s my age. So if I was ever to find someone for me, the guy has to be like Surinder Sahni. If you are dating a rich brat, how far can you go on is my question and where are you going to go? You want to be with someone who loves you like Suri does, that is unconditionally. He has to be sweet and genuine. I was watching the film and was cursing my character because I failed to understand why Taani isn`t falling in love with him.You envy Gauri Khan then?(Laughs out aloud) No, not at all. They are such a cute couple. I can never think of that.Would you leave your husband in real life if you find someone else? For Taani, she didn`t marry out of choice but Anushka Sharma is going to marry out of choice. And when I do get married I will never think of leaving my husband. You are a classic dancer with a classical grace.Thank you for the compliment and thanks to my Bharatnatyam classes I did till I was in the seventh standard. My mother always wanted me to learn classical dancing but I kept running away from it. What you`ve seen on screen is thanks to Shiamak Davar who helped me for one whole month of training. Have you been offered any toothpaste commercial because your smile kills?Oh really. I haven`t been offered any toothpaste commercial but the day I get an offer, I`ll send you a thank you note. How similar is Anushka to Taani? In more ways than one. But Anushka right now is very tired and I`ve been doing these interviews since morning which will go on till 11pm. Please tell me how do these actors do it. Hats off to them. I have to learn the tricks of the trade. Sometimes it does get tiring to answer the same questions again and again.

Golimaar gave me job satisfaction : Gopi Chand June 16, 2010 09:26

Gopichand, on cloud nine enjoying his success with ‘Golimaar’, shares a few moments with the media. Here are some excerpts: How do you feel about enjoying the success of Golimaar?Great! It is certainly an occasion to rejoice. We hear you do some social service. True?Yes!  Three years ago I adopted 10 students from World Vision in Vishakapatnam.  I want to do my best in providing the educational facilities to these children.  Can we expect one or two romantic films from you?All the films that I’ve worked so far, right from ‘Yagnam’, ‘Ranam’ ‘Lakshyam’ to the recent ‘Golimaar’ have action, romance and drama. I always wanted to do a romantic family entertainer like ‘Kalisundaam Ra’.  If any director or producer is interested, then I’m ready for the deal. Do you have any specific director in your mind to work with?I would say working with Jagan not only gave me a complete job satisfaction but also gave me more new ideas to build my skills further.  So given a chance I would like to act with him again.  I am also looking forward to work with SS Rajamouli and VV Vinayak. Which of your movies gave you the most satisfaction as a hero?‘Okkadunnadu’ tops the list. I also liked ‘Yagnam’, ‘Andrudu’ and ‘Ranam’ because I portrayed different characters in these films as well.   Is there any specific role in your mind which you long to do?I do not want to experiment with others’ hard earned money.  When I’m doing a film I see to it that it is well received by the audience and at the same time also wish to see my producers and distributors being happy. Is there any plan to act in Tamil or Kannada movies? I was introduced to Tamil audience as a villain through ‘Jayam’.  There also the film was a huge success.  Post Jayam’s success, I got many offers from Tamil producers but did not accept any.  I’m just waiting for the right offer to come my way.  I might also do ‘Golimaar’ in Hindi.  Please tell me about your present projectsPresently I’m involved in two projects, one with Nallamalapu Bujji and the other with Bhavya Creations banner. Do you have any interest in twitters and face book? Most of my interactions are on phone.  Therefore except to check my emails I usually don’t go online.  Are you going to marry this year?(Laughs) I can't say that now.

Barbara Mori Mexican Star..Interview! June 07, 2010 09:59

Mexican star, Barbara Mori, who is making her debut in Bollywood with KITES, is currently in India to promote her film. Recently we caught with the very beautiful & utterly warm actress. Here are the excerpts. How was the experience working in a Bollywood film?It was really exciting and completely different. Infact I think it's the best experience of my career. KITES is my first English film, my first Hindi film, my first action movie and last but the not the least it is also my first big budget movie. In that way KITES is special to me. Naturally the experience is different to whatever work I have done in Mexico. What really excited you to sign KITES?When I met the director Anurag Basu and producer Rakesh Roshan in Los Angeles, they narrated me the entire story of KITES and at that very moment I really fell in love with the story. It's an amazing lovestory of a Mexican girl (who only speak Spanish) and Indian guy (who only speak Hindi & English). Despite the language barrier, the two fall head-over-heels in love with each other. You had a special interpreter of languages on the sets so as to interact with the cast & crew of the film?Hrithik was my translator everytime. Sometimes Anurag (director) would start chatting in Hindi and I had to stop him then and there as I don't understand the language. But Hrithik always came to my rescue and he used to tell me 'Don't worry I'll translate for you'. Hrithik gave immense support throughout shooting. He's a sweetheart. How do you see the link-up stories with your co-star Hrithik Roshan?Well, I laugh (laughs)! Hrithik, Sussane and I have a hearty laugh over such figment stories. Earlier it used to bother me, but with time I have realized its part and parcel of this glitzy industry. So you think such kind of publicity helps the film?May be.Before working in KITES you had any idea of Bollywood?I didn't know anything about Bollywood when KITES came to me. I didn't know that it's such a big film industry in the world. I didn't know Rakesh or Hrithik or Shahrukh or anyone from Bollywood. Because we (Mexico) have never seen any Indian films there. But now have you watched any Indian films?Yes, I have watched few of Hrithik's films. I specifically liked the one in which he plays a soldier, LAKSHYA, (pauses) then KOI MIL GAYA.Tell us about your most grueling scene in KITESI hate seaside and water. I get petrified doing underwater scenes. And in the film I had one underwater sequence, still we had to put oxygen masks, go underwater and act. For me, that was the most grueling and difficult thing.Describe Barbara as a person?I am very emotional person. I believe in being honest.Tell us about your equation with RoshansThey are simply great. They always treated me so well. Rakesh, Hrithik & Sussane, all were kind with me. I've been to Roshans place many a times. They always made me feel at home, being with them I always felt like a family.Any more Bollywood films you have signed? No I haven't signed anything now. But Anurag has offered me yet another film, whose script I have to go through. Source:Glamsham

A Small Chat with Hannsikaa! June 05, 2010 16:28

The pretty moppet of Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand and the child star of ‘Koi…Mil Gaya’ has just made a successful transition to lead roles with Himesh Reshammiya's ‘Aap Kaa Surroor’. And insists that her young age works to her advantage. We chat with this one of the little wonders of Bollywood who is sure to take the world by storm in the forthcoming days.Excerpts from an Interview:Aap Kaa Surroor is the surprise super-hit of the year and you've broken the jinx that child stars rarely make successful debuts as leading ladies. You must be feeling on top of the world. Oh, definitely. It's great when you are accepted by the audience and the industry in such a big way. I've got really good reviews and on one particular website I've been described as the next Sachin Tendulkar of the country. Wow!Already there's talk of a sequel. Will you be a part of it? Let's wait and see. It would depend on what Himesh Reshammiya wants.Talking of Himesh, weren't you awkward with a man so much older than you, especially during the intimate moments? I'm an actor and when I was in front of the camera I ceased to be Hannsikaa. I became the character, Riia, so there was no question of feeling awkward. So romancing Himesh on screen was not difficult. What was? Nothing is difficult. Ever since Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand when my mother and actor-director Aruna Irani discovered that I had the spark and decided that acting was the career for me, I have been concentrating on it single-mindedly.That's great. But haven't you made the transition to lead roles may be a little too early? It's up to you to grab the opportunity. Since this was what I wanted to do, why wait? I started my acting career at a very young age, and each year I've only learnt something more. My young age works to my advantage because I have a long innings ahead. But surely you're missing out on a lot?Like what? I'm still continuing with my studies. I'm doing my 'A' levels at Poddar International High School. I'm still in touch with my old friends. At home and in college I'm like any normal girl. That's a little hard to believe.Well, may be in college I get a little special treatment and am being asked for an autograph every five minutes. What's with the change in name? Hansika Motwani has become Hannsikaa, we're told?Yeah, I'll be known as Hannsikaa from now on. Himeshji decided to drop the Motwani and add an extra 'n' and 'a' for numerological reasons. Since it has worked so well for me that's how I'll be known now.Is the Hannsikaa of Aap Kaa Surroor recognised as the dimpled moppet of Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand or the child star of Koi…Mil Gaya and Aabra Ka Daabra?Surprisingly, no. Very rarely do people connect me with that kid, and if they do, it’s only because of my smile. Mostly they're shocked when they learn that I'm the same Hansika. Then it's like, "Arrey, woh bachchi itni badi ho gayi hai!"So now you can dream of being cast opposite Hrithik Roshan some day? That would depend on the script but Roshan uncle, Pinky aunty, Hrithik and Suzzane are wonderful people. And as for Jadoo, he still calls me sometimes. I think he's lent me a little bit of his jadoo that is there today for the world to see.How was the shoot in Germany? Were you mobbed? There were very few Indians where we shot. A few of them recognized Himeshji but I didn't come in the public eye. They didn't make a big deal over Himeshji either. There they only know Shah Rukh Khan. Of course, in India Himeshji is a legend. As a singer and now as an actor too. He's got such a wonderful voice. I love 'Tera mera milna…'How many offers have you got since Aap Kaa Surroor hit the theatres? There have been plenty of offers but my mother wants me to only settle for good scripts and banners. I was away for a week, visiting my nana and nani in Delhi. You know thanks to all my fans it was difficult for me to get out of the airport. I'm just got back to Mumbai. You can expect some announcements soon but I want them to come as a surprise, like Aap Kaa Surroor. Can we expect a drastic change of image too?In Aap Kaa Surroor I was expected to look a little plump. But I've since shed five kilos and now I'm ready for anything. I'm here to perform and I don't want to get typecast. If the script demands that I play a goody-goody girl again that's what I'll do but if my director is looking for something different from me then I'm not going to disappoint him either. Hannsikaa can do anything under the sun.

Allari Naresh on Aha Naa Pellanta March 11, 2011 18:37

Allari Naresh has earned the tag of ‘minimum guarantee hero’ at box-office. However, the actor confides that it’s become a heavy baggage for him and he’s trying his best to live up to the expectations and deliver what’s expected from him – clean entertainment. He shared some feelings about Aha Naa Pellanta   Tell us about Aha Naa Pellanta? What’s your role in the film? It’s a very simple story where I play a software engineer named Subramanyam. Srihari, Subbaraju and Samrat are three brothers who are into land settlements and making money illegally. Now, they want their sister (Ritu Barmecha) in someone’s safe hands. I lead a very simple life in the film and the three brothers find me interesting and believe that their sister will be happy if I marry her. And they fix the match without me knowing the girl and even the girl doesn’t know me either. All this leads to hilarious situations with me being very afraid of them and them trying to convince me for the marriage.   Any funny incidents on the sets? There was this scene which is about 9 minutes long (27 pages scene in the script) between me and Brahmanandam. We started at 11 AM and continued shooting this scene till 5:30 PM. It’s all about comedy timing and Brahmanandam gaaru is perfect when it comes to this comic timing. It took me one whole day to dub that reel because I just couldn’t control my laughter. Comedy is one of the toughest emotions to portray. Even a slight error in comic timing can spoil the entire scene especially during such long scenes.   Veerabhadram, who directed this film, was your father’s assistant in the beginning of his career. How was it working with him? I have known him for a very long time now. And we worked together for the film Danger (Veerabhadram was the co-director). Getting this film started was a very difficult task for him. Convincing one actor itself is tough, but he being a newcomer managed to convince the producer, me, Srihari and Brahmanandam to do the film. Srihari and I wanted to work for quite sometime and I am happy that it’s finally working now. I always used to tell Srihari that our combination should be like Tom and Jerry, more of a Brawn Vs Brain concept. Veerabhadram approached me in 2008 and in 2009 I okayed the subject and we started shooting from July, 2010. We used to discuss about the project and I really wanted him (Veerabhadram) to put his heart and soul for his first film because it’s going to decide the rest of his career. He worked with a young team including Raghu Kunche (music director) and Sridhar (writer). We made several changes in the script to fine tune it and finally we had worked on almost 8-9 drafts. I must also mention about Loki, the cinematographer. He made his debut with Allari which was my debut film and later we worked on Thottigang too. I have wanted to work with him for a long time after that and he happened to be Veerabhadram’s friend.   About Ritu? She’s playing Srihari’s sister and she’s a nice actress. Language was one barrier, but she worked really hard on it. Moreover, she had done quite a few ads, so she was at ease while facing the camera.   Before the film was completed, your dad passed away. That must have devastated you. Dad has been always been a great pillar of strength and it’s because of him people know me. It was really tough to deal. My brother’s marriage was fixed and his demise was quite unexpected. There have been other co-incidences too. He started working with Jhandhyala for a film called Nalugu Sthambalaata. There’s a song in that film, Chinukula Raali which we remixed for Aha Naa Pellanta. And then, his last film with Jhandhyala was Aha Naa Pellanta and we have the same title as well. He was more of a friend to me and I share everything with him. He used to buy all my clothes and shoes, socks till his death. It’s definitely a big loss to us and all those people who depend on him.   Is your marriage on the cards too? What are your plans for future? I am not thinking of marriage right now. I have to continue the EVV legacy and take it to the next level. We started EVV cinema banner and I will strive to make it bigger in future.
