My dream is to make mythological films November 04, 2010 16:05

In this cricket obsessed country how will one treat a player who makes a century every time he goes in the middle? One such treatment is being enjoyed by a non-cricket hero in Tollywood. What else can we say about the flamboyant director who gives nothing but hits whenever he claps for a movie. It was ‘Student No. 1’ that introduced the assistant director of K Raghavendra Rao to the movie world as a capable director. This success was followed by ‘Simhadri’, ‘Sye’, ‘Chatrapati’, ‘Vikramarkudu’, ‘Yamadonga’ ‘Magadheera’ and finally ‘Maryada Ramanna’. These films do not need any introduction and so is the director SS Rajamouli. If the husband is making such headlines, the better-half is not far behind. As a costume designer Mrs Rama Rajamouli has lent her skill to her husband in most of his movies and the peak of the contribution is seen in ‘Magadheera’ which has fetched her the prestigious State Nandi Award. Rajamouli directed ‘Magadheera’ was the highlight of Nandi awards by bagging as many as nine awards including the one for the best director. Ragalahari caught a few pleasant moments of this jubilant director who obliged by sharing a few thoughts. First time you and your wife, Mrs Rama, won the prestigious State Nandi awards at the same time for the same film. What are your feelings for that?I don’t believe in awards nor does my wife. So sincerely we have no special feelings for that.Did you expect these many State awards for your film ‘Magadheera’?I don’t think of awards when I work. My only aim is to make a good film which will not let down the producers, buyers and exhibitors. But because ‘Magadheera’ was the film where technicians contributed their best, we expected it would win laurels. What inspired you to direct a film like ‘Magadheera’? Can you tell us how it started?I always wanted to make films in mythological and folklore genre, but was afraid of budgets. This project provided me the support. We observe from your works that you are trying to make different films. What makes you think different unlike others who stick to a pattern? Each director has his own way of thinking. Personally I am scared that I’ll exhaust myself if I stick to only one kind of films.Right from ‘Student No. 1’ to the recent ‘Maryada Ramanna’, you have touched the genre of youth, romance, action, comedy, historical, etc. And now your latest project ‘Eega’ appears to be an animated film. How do you get these ideas? The ideas are always there. We have been discussing these ideas since about 20 years. They are bearing fruit now. When are you launching this project?‘Eega’ probably will go on sets by end of November. Right now I am working on the script. The title ‘Eega’ sounds pretty interesting. We are curious to know about it.‘Eega’ is a housefly. Apart from that you have to keep your curiosity at bay. (smiles)So the image of stars will not dominate in this film. Right?Whether a star dominates the film or not is the choice of the director. I felt that the stars should be highlighted in my previous films, but in ‘Eega’, obviously there are no stars.Besides the animated character, who are the other artists in the film? The cast is not yet finalized for ‘Eega’. I can’t do it until I’m ready with my script. What brought you to that subject, ‘Eega’?As I said earlier the idea is pretty old. It just took shape now.Is Walt Disney going to work with you to help develop this graphics oriented project? No. To approach Disney was just an idea. We never actually did.Your films have so much different style, be it ‘Sye’ or ‘Vikramarkudu’ or ‘Yamadonga’ or ‘Magadheera’ or ‘Maryada Ramanna’. Are you particular of that? When it comes to the style of the film I go by the story… whatever the story demands. I don’t do anything different just to make it look different. After ‘Eega’, what are you thinking about doing next?My project after ‘Eega’ is with Prabhas, which is going to be produced by Mr. Raghavendra Rao. It might be a full-length folklore.Who has been a major influence for you as a filmmaker? So many story tellers and filmmakers, but the major influence is Uncle Pai of Amar Chithra Katha and Mel Gibson.Nowadays there are quite a few youngsters making their debut in Tollywood. What would be your advice to them?I never give advices to anyone.Tell us about your new projects?I am starting my new flick as 'Eega'. The shooting for this new film will start next month. And after that I think it will be with Prabhas. We have seen some really extravagant episodes in films like “Yamadonga” and “Magadheera” which had a fantasy, mythology concept. Can we expect a full fledged film with a mythology backdrop from you?Yeah. That is the whole intention. My dream is to make a full fledged pauranikam, janapadam, folklore (or) mythological films. What are the constraints that challenge you from making a pauranikam..?Budget constraints. If 4 reels of Magadheera becomes the highest budgeted film, how can I make a 16 reel film within the same budget? That is a code which I have to crack and I think I will crack it soon.Your messages to the readers of Andhra Wishesh.com....?(laughs) I just said that I never give advices….but if you insist, then all I can say to the new directors is “Try to do a film which you like and not what others like.” Thanks for taking time to talk with us despite your busy schedule. You are welcome.

Gaganam Dil Raju February 11, 2011 18:58

Dil Raju is known for sensible and different cinema. His latest movie Gaganam with Nagarjuna .He shared many details about his film Gaganam.                                                  Here are his words….Tell us how did Gaganam film happen?Prakash Raj narrated the concept of Gaganam during the release time of Aakasamantha. I loved it and we planned to produce it in Telugu (me) and Tamil (Prakash Raj) with in a combined budget of 5 crores.I had shown the preview of Tamil original of Aakasamantha to Nagarjuna. He loved the film. I asked him if he could act in Prakash Raj’s role so that I could remake Akasamantha in Telugu. Nagarjuna said that it won’t suit his image at this point of time. I approached Nagarjuna again to do the commando role in Gaganam movie. He got excited about the subject and asked me to prepare the full script with the treatment. We worked for 3 months and arrived at the final script. Radha Mohan, Prakash Raj, me, cameraman and dialogue writer participated in the script work. Nagarjuna was completely impressed by the script. He initially thought that it was going to be a serious film. But we incorporated lot of entertainment that generates out of the situations in the script. He gave a go-ahead. Since Nagarjuna came aboard, we made sure that the movie is made on a grand scale. What is the story of Gaganam? It is a hijack-based script. The story takes place in 5 days. People of various backgrounds and characterizations board a flight and it gets hijacked. This story has various aspects to it -1. Each passenger react to such a crisis situation in a different way.2. The reactions of the family members, relatives, friends who sent them off and who are about to receive them at destination.3. The Government reaction and the decisions it take. The deployment of the right people from air force and army to deal with the crisis.4. How media sensationalises the issue without realising the human angle in it.There is beautiful humor generated out of tense situation in the flight. Humor is going to be a major asset to the film along with the script. What is the reason for the delay in release? We started the film in March 2010 and wanted to release it by September. Since we had Brindavanam slated for September/October, we wanted Gaganam to release a month after Brindavanam release. Since Brindavanam got released in October, we wanted to release it in November. The Tamil film industry had too many big releases in November and Prakash Raj wanted to postpone it to December. We wanted to release on 3 December, and Nagavalli got released on the same day. We wanted to release it on 9 December, but Ragada was coming for 17 December and there was no big gap. Hence, we decided to release on 3 January, but the strike in Telugu film industry stalled our post-production activity. We wanted to release on 4 February and KSD Appalraju’s date was also confirmed on 4th. I asked them for a commitment that they will not release Appalraju for 11 February and they obliged. Finally, desided to release on 11 February. What is your gut feel on the movie?Prakash Raj saw the final copy of Tamil version on 5 February and said that Gaganam is like laddu. I saw the 1st copy of Gaganam. The final output of the movie is of great quality. We shot the movie in Red Camera and cameraman Guhan used various cameras to a great effect. There will be tension in the movie and at the same time there is nice entertainment. Gaganam is a visual treat.Tell us about the previews of Gaganam?I am going to show the premiere of Nagarjuna’s Gaganam to the press three days  before the release. There will be premieres for industry people on the night of 9 Feb. Then we  will travel in a chartered flight to Sangam theater in Vizag at 10:30 am for morning show. Then we will visit Geeta Apsara theater in Rajahmundry for 1:30 pm. After that we will go to Annapurna theater in Vijayawada at 4:30 pm. Then we will return to Hyderabad to attend a 4-screens premiere in Prasads multiplex during the time of first show. The second show premiere in Hyderabad will take place in Cinemax. You are showing premieres to press, industry people and the audiences well in advance before the release. Are you not afraid of negative talk it may generate? There are many misconceptions about the movie among the industry people and the people who closely follow the film for the following reasons -1. There are no songs, hence movie will not be good 2. There is no craze for the movie3. It will be like a documentary because of hijack subject4. Nagarjuna is doing a guest role5. It got postponed many times because Dil Raju is not satisfied with the outputAll the above mentioned things will be answered when we have premieres. I have shown the double positive of the movie to people of various backgrounds. I got the clarity that it will be liked by all sections of audiences. I want to break the norm and show it to all the people who matter. Are the Telugu and Tamil version going to be the same?Major part of the both these versions is same. But we edited/modified certain scenes in both versions to suit local sensibilities. The Tamil version will be of 2:08 hours runtime. The Telugu version is pacier and it will be having a runtime of 1:58 hours.Tell us about your next projects?Mr Perfect: Shooting of the movie is complete except for a 6-days shoot of songs. This movie is slated for March/April release. You will see a new Prabhas in the movie just liked we had a new NTR in Brindavanam. It is an youthful family entertainer. It represents the present mindset of youth who see not much difference between their life and career. They have become as calculative in their lives just the way they are in their careers. This movie addresses that aspect beautifully.O My Friend: Siddharth is acting again in our banner after Bommarillu. Venu Sriram worked with us since Arya and he is getting introduced as director with this movie. It will deal with the friendship aspect between a boy and a girl.

My first crush is Nagarjuna October 27, 2010 11:26

Anjana Sukhani has come a long way, from a model in a Cadbury Dairy Milk commercial to one of the lead actresses in Jai Veeru.  Basics on Anjana Sukhani : Anjana Sukhani was born on 10th December 1978. She was born into a Sindhi family hailing from Jaipur.Bollywood actress Anjana Sukhani, who made her debut as second heroine in Ravi Teja-Shriya starrer ‘Don Seenu’ is very excited about the success of her first film. On this occasion, the actress shares her experiences and views about the film and the film industry. Some excerpts:Introduction: Namaskaram, I’m Anjana Sukhani.  My first film in is ‘Don Seenu’.  Since you all have seen the film, I thank you for your wishes and blessings.  Director Gopichand saw ‘Tashan’ and decided that I would aptly suit this role.  That is how he contacted me and it got finalized very soon.  Thus ‘Don Seenu’ happened. My character is a very bubbly and fun loving girl.  In the first half of the film I appear in a very glamorous role and in the second half I will be seen as a traditional girl wearing Indian attire.  It’s a fun loving character and at the same time a very strong person who supports her best friend Shriya.  Shriya completes her education in overseas and comes back to India, rest is the story.  About Ravi Teja: It’s a complete treat to work with Ravi Teja garu.  I have heard of him but never seen him before. I first searched google by typing Ravi Teja and read a lot about him before I joined the shooting.  And later working with him has become a very good experience. The shooting was like a picnic, going in the morning and coming back in the evening.  The month long shooting schedule at overseas and the shooting at Hyderabad went on smoothly that we did not even realize the film has been completed.   About Shriya:  Shriya is a big star.  Her heart is as beautiful as she appears.  She is a very good actress.  This platform being new to me, she gave a very good support and I found a good friend in her.   I hope this association will continue forever.Glamour : Yes of course, why not.  Doing glamour roles is not a bad thinking.  But, Telugu cinema being more traditional, I wish to do a good traditional role as there is more scope for performance.  Glamour of course is always there.  I’ve done quite a few Hindi films before.  ‘Salaam E Ishq’ with Anil Kapoor and Salman Khan, and some mixed stars like Juhi Chawla, Vidya Balan, Priyanka.  This apart, Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Jashn’, ‘Golmaal Returns’, ‘Tum Mile To Sahi’ with Nana Patekar, ‘Jai Veeru’ with Fardeen and Kunaal, and my forthcoming film is with Sharman Joshi.  I’ve good amount of Hindi films in my kitty, one Kannada film with Ganesh which became superhit and ‘Don Seenu’ is my second super hit film.  So I hope to do the best here also.  It is not necessary to do only Hindi films if you live in Mumbai.  You can do a movie in any language because they are meant to be Indian cinema.  Whenever we talk about cinema we talk about Indian film industry and not Mumbai city cinema or Hyderabad city cinema.  So I wanted to do films in all languages and I hope I get an opportunity to work in Tamil as well.  By doing films in various languages we get exposed to new people, new culture and new food (smiles) and this learning experience is very essential in life for anyone. That’s how I’ve learnt many things while working for ‘Don Seenu’ too.  Fun Experience : Yes, one can experience lot of difference here when we come from Bollywood.  South Indian Cinema is very disciplined and they concentrate more on the subject.  But that doesn’t mean Bollywood lacks all that.  But people here are very disciplined and punctual.  They know to extract exactly what they want and how they want. Music masala is brilliant in south.  Most of the technicians in Bollywood are from south, be it DOP’s or music directors.  There is so much talent in south that some talent from North also should come to south and that’s why I’m here.  Competition : Self competition is important for any artist.  They have to compete with themselves to do better than what they have done before.  But comparing themselves with others is not a healthy atmosphere.Hobbies: My hobbies are dancing, hanging out, reading books, watching movies and cooking.  I’m a vegetarian so I like vegetarian food.  Best tourist places in India are Kerala and Goa while abroad I like London because I did my education there.Favourite Actor: My favourite stars are Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan in Hindi, Surya and Vikram in Tamil, Ravi Teja, Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan Tej and of course I forgot to mention I also like Nagarjuna very much.First Crush: My first crush is Nagarjuna sir.  He doesn’t appear like a 50 year old.  He looks trim and fit in every way he is.  He is a brilliant actor too.Favourite Heroine: I like Trisha a lot. She is very beautiful and her acting too.  In Telugu, I like Shriya because she is also a very good actress. And I also like Simran, Jyothika and Bhumika.Any Love Affair: As of now, my love affair is with my work.  I’ve to marry my work because my full focus will be on work. (Laughs)At Home: I live with my mother, father and big brother. My brother lives in London and my parents live with me in Mumbai.Education: I completed MBA and did master’s degree in foreign trade.  Foodie : All vegetarian food from South like idly, dosa, sambar and of course vegetarian biriyani.  First Income Spent on:  I bought an LV bag which is very expensive. (smiles)  This apart, I sent my mother to Dubai on a one month vacation.  Money keeps coming and going.Believes in: I want to provide good work and acquire respect in the film industry.  I believe in getting respect by doing good work.  She concluded by saying a movie becoming hit is very essential in the film industry.  We will know the people’s opinion on us through a hit film.  When a person goes to theater and spends Rs 100 or Rs 200 on a movie, the money he spent should be that valuable.  For my sake please watch ‘Don Seenu’ once again and make it more super hit.

I look like a real pro October 27, 2010 11:00

She is just one film old. But Kaveri Jha is no novice when it comes to handle her professional life. She flies with Air India and has the finesse and charm to handle interviews for her first Telugu film ''Nagaram'', without being too overwhelmed by the tinsel ville glamour. She is candid and forthright while talking of her debut film and her future in the industry. Over to her...You are with Air India in Mumbai. How did a Telugu film Nagaram happen?I fly with Air India as cabin crew. But long before I joined Air India, I was into modelling. Here, I must thank my people in Air India for allowing me to pursue my passion of acting and modelling. Actually, I was lookin out for good Telugu films. I was quite attracted to the industry and had heard quite a bit about the stars here. My producers too were looking out for someone new. They felt I looked the part at our very first meeting. In fact, they confirmed that I would get the part the very first time I met them.A part of the movie is set in Mumbai. Was that a factor while choosing the film? Not exactly. First, I would go for the story. If I like it, then it is very important for me to know what I am doing and where. When I heard the script, I figured out that it was indeed a very good offer for a beginner. It was a very good platform for me to act as I knew I was getting good technicians, good music and a great part. Also, my co-star was good. I knew that the journey would be good, so I think these were the few reasons, why ended up doing the film. How did you manage your work and shoots? It was very difficult juggling work and shootings. There were times when I would just land in Mumbai, catch the plane to Hyderabad and then fly back immediately to get back to work. It is indeed very hard to take up two careers at a time. But I figured out that where there is a will, there is a way!How difficult was it to act in Telugu?Language is a huge problem. More so because we are acting and that requires us to emote and portray a character. If you do not understand a language then it becomes almost impossible to understand where to pause, where to pause and how much to pause. When you don't understand how a question is put, you do not know where to the expression for a question. These technical problems naturally pose hurdles in the whole process. But if you work with professionals, then it makes life easy. Also, I am good at languages. So, it was not really difficult to pick up my lines.I must give some credit to my team and co-stars as they had loads of patience. In fact, my director would do the lines with me and my cameraman would give me the right cues. I must say so of my co-stars too. It is their involvement that made my life much much easier on the sets. Now that you are a film old, do you understand some Telugu?Little. Honestly, it is too early in my career, to say 'Yes, I have picked up Telugu'.Tell us about your role in 'Nagaram'?I play this girl called Navya who is doing her PHD on gangsters and their lives. She is a smart, today's girl, who is not scared of getting what she wants. She is a confident girl, who knows that she is capable of doing what others do. She is ready to work for what she believes in. The best part is that she truly believes in love and she is not a calculated person who wants a well-positioned person as her lover. She falls in love with this guy who is a gangster and she tries to help him come out of that world. In between, comes Jagapati Babu, who also tries to help them. But things go wrong and there is lots of your usual action and melodrama. What according to you is the highlight of your character? She is a very sensitive girl who wants things her way. But she also knows that she has to work for it. She really wants to change the lives of other people. She very selflessly tries to help them. Then of course, there is my song, choreographed by Krishnavamsi sir. That is the highlight for me as it has been shot beautifully and I am looking really good in the song. It is his forte and he is a known perfectionist. So, he has given it his best and it has come out really well. The audience will remember it forever and the song is going to stay on in their minds forever. How was Srikant as a co-star?Ohhh.... Srikant was a pleasure to work with. I couldn't have asked for a better actor. Though he is at the peak of his career, he is the best. He is a senior actor as compared to me, but he never made me feel bad about being new. He would include me in conversations and was very patient even when I got my scenes wrong. He would show me how to do my steps during song sequences. And that I think was very nice of him, as it was not his job to ensure that I did it right. I was very fortunate to have worked with Srikant in my very first Telugu film.Tell us about your director...It is CC sir or director CC Srinivas, to whom I owe my performance to a large extent. He made sure I rehearsed my lines in such a way that I looked like a real pro. I looked as comfortable as I would look if I were speaking in Hindi or English. He had a very weird, different way of helping me learn my dialogues. He made it look like I was saying my lines without thinking, but that was surely not the case. Also, he knew how I had to look exactly and gave precise instructions to the make-up guys. As we say, a film is a director's baby... this one is indeed CC sir's baby.Any particular incident you cannot forget in your life, while you shot for the film...There is this one funny incident which I will never, ever forget. This happened when we were shooting for a song in Bangkok. For one particular shot, I had to run on the beach and get on to the back of Srikant. For this shot, we had to dripping with water and so the crew members would pour water on us. This was the song choreographed by Krishnavamsi sir. Once in between the shots, I thought I heard action and started running. So, there was this guy who had to pour water on me and he too started running after me. Poor Srikant did not know what was happening when he saw us running. Even before he could figure out what was happening, I fell on him and the guy fell on us. The whole unit was in splits and blamed me for the incident. So, it was the most stupid and funny incident during the entire shoot. What according to you, are the highlights of the film? There are a couple of scenes that are bound to draw the interest of the audience. Then it would surely be the screenplay. You simply cannot predict what is going to happen next. Of course, then there is the story. Not to forget the cast. Last, but not the least, my song. That will be the highlight of the film anyday. It wouldn't be exaggerating to say it is one of the best songs shot ever.Do you have plans to continue acting in Telugu or other south Indian films? Have you signed any film after 'Nagaram'?Yes, I do want to work in other languages. But I want to concentrate mostly on Telugu films. But it would be too early to speak of future. Let's see. There is an offer. But again, as soon as I am allowed to to speak about it, then I will let you know what is coming up.In the long run, if you had to choose between acting and flying... what would you choose?Acting is my passion... I had always wanted to be in front of the camera, so much so that I am addicted to it. I can stand in front of a camera forever and ever. In future, if I had to make a choice, then I will give up flying for acting. Was it easy, getting a break? There are different levels of struggle -- for example, some people sleep on platforms and then make it big. Some get cast and then are eventually rejected. But I have been lucky so far. I managed to get my breaks without too many rejections. But I have to watch how my career goes in future. What would Kaveri do in her free time?I like going out. I am not the partying kind. But I am a outdoor person. I would any day read a book out on a beach rather than at home. Mostly, I take my car out and go out for a drive, go shopping and meet friends. What is your take on body show?I have always heard heroines say that when you are out on the beach, you cannot look correct wearing a burkha, or formal wear with boots in place. You have got to look the part. However, it all depends on the scene. If you are showing skin, then I think it has to be well shot and well presented. Then, you can end up looking much more beautiful than in any other outfit. There is nothing wrong in exposure, if it is done well!Being a newcomer, you are expected to answer this one. Would you be comfortable wearing a swim suit?Honestly, I don't mind wearing a swim suit. But for that, the makers have to give me six months, so I could work on body and tone it better. I feel if I have to look presentable, then I have to lose some weight. Otherwise, I will look bad on screen in skimpy clothes. When I am in perfect shape, I will surely do it.Lastly, you had mentioned, acting was always your passion. So, did you get trained in acting or dancing or in any other aspect of filmmaking? No, I have no formal trainin in acting. But I did learn dancing in Mumbai to make my body more rhythm friendly. I did not learn classical dancing, so I did take dance classes.

Proved to be successful October 21, 2010 18:33

Nagarjuna Akkineni is the most prolific star of Telugu cinema with continuous blockbusters since 2001. He attempted all kinds of genres and proved himself to be very successful. He was shooting for a song in Rama Naidu studios,  hero Nagarjuna looks awesome and handsome than ever with his new long hair. The hero who is synonymous with style and grace in Telugucinema is now entering into 20th year as hero. On 1986 May 23, he was launched into Telugucinema field as a hero with Vikram. He has come long way since then churning blockbusters like Shiva, Nuvvostavani and classic stories like Manirathnam directed Geetanjali and KRR Annamayya,  As a hero he reached to the pinnacles long back, now he is also revived his father's prestigious banner Annapoorna Studios and becoming one of the most successful producers in Tollywood. If there were an industry of cool, Nag would surely be the CEO, wrote a newspaper about him recently. He spoke at length about his career spanning two decades and his personal life. Excerpts from a long chitchat with the 'style' Icon.  When you look back your 20 years career, how do you feel?  I feel I am blessed.  The unconditional love by the fans and the fame, money and everything that I have now is because of this field. I don't want to be anywhere else than this acting profession. It is an honest one. I always wonder what I have done to deserve all this love? Being Akkineni's son helped me initially but it is talent that in the end that helped me to stand here. No one can achieve anything here without talent, luck may play a role but its role is minuscule. In the 20 years of my career I had seen ups and downs, but I have enjoyed every moment. Most importantly, you never feel you are lonely here, that feeling that all the fans are there for you is ecstatic. when scribes met him for an interview. Here are the excerpts -How you plan to celebrate this birthday? My birthdays are very simple. I like to spend that day with the people who I care about and who care about me. The first thing in morning I go and visit my parents. Then I spend time with my fans who come from all over the state. Rest of the day I spend with my friends and be in my home. This birthday I would be working.Which birthday did you remember the most?I think it was five to six years ago. I was traveling from Chennai to Hyderabad on a flight. Two flights started from Chennai at the same time. The first flight crashed and people died. It was horrible thing. I was on the second flight and I did not know when this happened as I was on air. When I came home, my wife and my friends were looking at me like they were looking at a ghost. They were all in tears and were hugging me. That was one day I would not forget. You worked with many heroines. Who do you think is the perfect pair on screen for you? You should not be diplomatic about it!Sonali and myself in Manmadhudu was a very good pair. I liked the way the characters were designed. Then again Sonali was not my favorite heroine. But I will be diplomatic there and I won’t say anything. (giggles)What was the Role you got on Gaganam ?It was a very elevating news for me. I was very fortunate to be able to do that film. Not because somebody else can’t. It is because that it came to me.Are you happy the way it was received?Yes, of course.Do you think it is necessary to make a film run for 100 days though it is successful?Yes. If it deserves. I won’t believe in running it in empty theaters. Sri Ramadasu ran for 100 days on it’s pure merit in lot of centers. What is your all time favorite movie?I really can't say.How many times do you watch your films? It was a rare occasion when I watch any of my films for the second time. For Sri Ramadasu I watched the film once and then I watched climax for around 30 times. That is because we previewed Sri Ramadasu to VIPs many times and I had to wait for them when film ends.Which is the song you always hum?I hum Tauba Tauba from Stalin. Whenever I turn on the radio, I keep listening to gala gala pare selayerula from 'Pokiri'. It somewhere reminds me of Enrique’s ’I love to see you cry’.Which character among your films is really close to Nagarjuna? It is a difficult question. I would say Manmadhudu because I love humor and jokes. I am always laughing and cracking jokes when I am with my friends. What is the best compliment you received?Men calling that I look like Manmadhudu. I like it when women compliment me. It feels good. What is Nagarjuna in your own words? It is a very dicey question. I try to be simple and happy. Content is what I would like to be.What is your way of life?It is a very difficult question. I try to be little positive. I take everyday as it comes. Whenever I design something for my life, they became flops. Be it movies or life! What is the most common SMS you get on your cell phone?‘This is my phone number. Message me.’ That’s the most common SMS. SMS has become such a easy way of sending out your feelings and opinions without being scared. I see lot of people saying lot of thinks they would not say face to face.Tell us about your association with MAA TV?It is not official yet. So I would not want to talk about it.You are touted as one of the smart investors in Telugu film circles?I never planned anything. If I buy some land it was for myself. Not because I wanted to do business out of it. Somewhere stars are working for me.Which film would you like to remake if you had a choice?None. What is the reason for not doing Shiva 2006?There is no resemblance to Shiva and Shiva 2006. Shiva was college student and Shiva 2006 is a cop. Ram Gopal Varma used the emotions of Shiva. He has all rights to do it since it is his baby. After Shiva many directors tried making films like Shiva. Ramu is recreating his own film. You seem to be looking hotter and younger with each year passing. What is your secret?May be I am like wine. (giggles). I am very conscious about the way I look. It pays off. I take life as it comes, but I don’t take health like that. Health is something I work very hard on it. May be that is because I am very happy with the way I am. If you are happy, it even shows on your skin.Bollywood magazines seem to be writing some gossip on you? That is because I am popular. It is good. For everybody it is a survival problem. Journalists should sensationalize a story to sell their copies.Do you think Nagarjuna has come to a stage of being complete actor with so much of wide verities of films in your kitty?Actor grows day by day and he gets better with every character. With multiplexes coming in AP, do you accept small budget films with unique story value from new directors?Right now we have only 2 multiplexes. Let there be another 50 multiplexes in the state. Then I will think about it.Do you have any plans to building a multiplex? That is a different game altogether. Multiplex is all about hospitality.Do you have any plans of directing films? No. You need to have an aptitude to direct a film. Direction is all about dealing with 24 crafts. If I do something I have to do it with my heart. I am not interested in certain departments. A director needs to know about people management and it does not gel well with me.When an important decision to be made about a scene or shot in a film. Is it your call or director’s call?It is a team work. All my hits happened because we worked together as a team.Is there any significant difference when you did not like the song, but was put into the film? There is one song in Chandralekha which I insisted that it should not be there. But Krishna Vamsi convinced me that it should be there. We shot that song and kept in the film. But that song was removed by exhibitors with in week after the release. It was a hot song with Ramya Krishna. I resisted saying that it disturbs the mood of the film. But Krishna Vamsi believed that masses need it.Did you like that film?Yes I liked Chandralekha. It is one of the films I liked, but did not do well at box office.Do your films cater to your own taste or people’s taste?I would like to have a balance. But in general I would do films that cater to the tastes of people. If I had to do films that cater to my personal taste, I would have to do a low budget film when we have 50 multiplexes in AP. (giggles)How different are you compared to the on-screen Heroe's ?On the screen, I would be exactly the way I am in real life. I drive people to work hard. I don’t tolerate mistakes. You may do mistakes once. But not the second time. But at the same time, I take a very good care of them. What is your opinion about hike of ticket fares? It is good that producer and the government are making money over hiked ticket prices instead of black marketer. Film is commodity which depends on supply demand chain. This system has been in place in other states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra etc for a long time. Andhra Pradesh government has recently given permission.

Chaitu Working The Magic October 08, 2010 18:51

Right now is the perfect time to be Naga Chaitanya. The industry is celebrating the heralding of a new heir & so are the audiences. After having wooed & wowed people with his wonderful performance in Ye Maaya Chesave, Chay, as he is fondly called, is having the time of his life. His polite demeanor, ready repartee, earthy humor & an easy-does-it attitude add to his enchantment. Talk to him and you realize the strength with which this young heartthrob, in spite of carrying dual filmy legacies, refuses to bow to the pressure. Nishka Agarwal brings you more. How’s life treating you at the moment? It’s been great. I’m enjoying the things that life is giving my way. And most importantly, I am doing lot of interesting work. I couldn’t be happier.People still can’t stop talking about Ye Maaya Chesave. You seem to have made quite an impression on young hearts…Thanks, it’s a beautifully genuine movie. But to be honest, I wasn’t really expecting the movie to reach out to so many people. Not just the youth, people across all age groups have loved it. It’s a bonus that I & Samantha have connected to people so well as Kartik & Jessie. All thanks to Gautham Sir.Kartik of YMC is a guy who is willing to do anything for a girl. What would you do for a girl in real life?Yes, if I hopefully meet the girl of my dreams, I would definitely do anything it takes to get her [grins]The kissing scene was quite talked about… take us through it.Oh, we had no qualms doing it whatsoever. Gautham Sir is known for shooting such scenes aesthetically. I felt the story needed it. I know it sounds clichéd but the situation did demand it. It never felt like we were doing anything sleazy. We were really comfortable about the whole thing as it was shot well.At the heart of it, YMC is a very simple love story. Did you have any apprehensions before committing to it?The moment I heard the story, I felt really good about it. It moved me. It just felt like falling in love [laughs]. That’s what made me go for it. Like I said, it is a real movie about two real people in love. It shows their fights, their squabbles & conversations. It’s very simple at heart! How was it working with Gautham Menon? It was like a dream come true. I never expected that I would be doing my second movie with him. Actors would give an arm & a leg to be a part of his movie. I couldn’t believe it when I was offered the role. I have learnt so much from him. I’ve improved so much as an actor post- YMC.Anything in particular that you wish to share with us…I love his way of working. He gives the actor so much freedom as he believes in spontaneity. He doesn’t let people rehearse much as he loves to capture those fresh innocent emotions & reactions that come out instantly. Moreover, he’s not the sort of director who does too many retakes. He believes in his actors & lets them do their thing. We couldn’t ask for more.Josh was a good subject. It had the idea & the script but it didn’t do as well as expected. What do you think went wrong?Josh was a very conscious move on my part. I know it’s not the ideal launch that one looks for. I didn’t want to be launched in a standard commercial formula film. I wanted to do something different. Now that I look back, there were too many expectations. I personally felt that if you give the audience the right content, they would accept it. Unfortunately it didn’t work out with the movie.A hit or a flop obviously affects an actor’s mindset. Take us through post-Josh & post-YMC.Post-Josh, I was disappointed but I stood my ground, I was determined to bounce back. YMC got me so much adulation.  It gave me more confidence. So I guess an actor needs both hits & flops to make him confident & to make him work harder as well. What are the most positive & negative feedbacks that you have received about yourself? In Josh, I played a serious character – a guy who didn’t express himself too much. So I had to underplay my emotions. But people didn’t grasp it right and they thought I couldn’t act. I am trying to change that perception. I am definitely trying to improve my dancing which I know I am not too good at. Coming to the good parts, I’ve gotten many compliments for my climax scene in YMC & also for couple of scenes in Josh which I’m really happy for because I’ve worked real hard at them. Those scenes really meant a lot to me as they were very challenging and I’m happy my efforts paid off.

A film on Racism in Australia October 08, 2010 11:54

Mohit Suri's first film, Zeher, a romantic thriller, released in 2005. Since then he has made films on a variety of mature and difficult subjects ranging from the Indian pornographic industry (Kalyug), gangsters and the flesh trade (Aawarapan), schizophrenia (Woh Lamhe), to exorcism (Raaz TMC). All of them have been successful and their music has been even more successful. 'Racism exists Everywhere' says : Young Director Mohit Suri  Director of 'C R O O K' MovieThe young director is back with Crook, a film about youngsters and racism in Australia. He talks about the reason behind making such a film, his equation with cousin Emraan Hashmi, the universal appeal of the film, and more. Why did you choose to make Crook?I read about Indians being beaten up in Australia.I found a story in that because when I was in Chandigarh, I saw that every household had a son going to Australia.I went there to do some research. I was not sure what exactly I wanted to do. I was shocked to find so many Indians there; the entire underbelly of the country is mostly Indian-dominated. Every cab driver is from Punjab, India.I went to the store where the first racial attack had taken place. The victim had gone into coma. I asked around about what had happened. They told me a very shocking story about how this boy was beaten up. Some guys were driving around in a car singing 'Singh is Kinng' and the Whites did not like it.So they entered the store and asked who was 'Singh'? This boy said that he was 'Singh'. They sent the other people out and shut the store. They beat up the boy. I was appalled by it.However, when I walked out I saw a notice for accommodation. It said: For Gujarati Boys only. What I realized is that racialism is a part of every person's heart, all around the world. I did not want to make a film bashing any race or country as racism is universal. I have dealt with racism on a larger scale.Does Emraan Hashmi influence the content of your film? Why do you always cast him in your films?Emraan and I started our careers together as assistant directors. We have grown up with the same sensibilities. When I like something, he likes it too. I had shared the idea with him before I went to Australia. He was excited about it. He has always told me that I make good movies but they are more mature than I am. He has always wanted to make a youthful film with me. Emraan's character is 24-25 years old. He has usually played a gangster, undercover agent, cop, gambler, and other characters which are way older than him. He has played a father in Jannat two years ago though he has become a father only now. In this film, he has a younger, fresher, leaner, cleaner look.We bounce off an idea and discuss it and take it forward. Emraan is a great actor and he is a draw at the box office too. What more do you need!Today's youth does not care about the values their parents gave them. Only success matters to them. They think it is good to be bad. Emraan is very good at playing a bad, angry guy. In all his films, be it Gangster, Jannat, Murder, and Footpath, the bad character has always suited him better. Barring Tum  Mile, he has not played a purely nice guy anywhere. Even in Awaarapan, he was a gangster with a heart of gold.In Crook, he is not all bad. He wants to be bad because he feels goodness does not get anyone anywhere. Emraan's character drives a cab, washes dishes, and the like in the film. That is what everybody does when they go abroad. How did you cast Neha Sharma in the film?I was looking for a heroine and came across Neha's photos. I had heard she had done South Indian films. We met her and I thought she looked nice and would be fit for the part. She asked me if I would audition her for the role. I said I would not because I had seen her dance in her films. I told her if she could do those steps fast, confidently, uninhibitedly, and gracefully, she could definitely act!Is the film anti-Australia?Everyone was worried about the message of the movie, whether we are bashing that country (Australia). This was an issue when we needed permits to shoot at certain locations. We had to shoot those scenes in Mumbai. The film is about racism in general and not specifically racism in Australia. Neither Mahatma Gandhi nor Nelson Mandela had a solution to racism so how can I, as a 28-year-old director, have a solution? People were prejudiced against the film wondering if it was anti-a-particular-race. The Censor Board has seen my film and they told me that the film is not only about racism in Australia but handles the issue on a larger scale.Did you feel discriminated against while shooting there? We were not allowed entry in a club. It was our day off and we decided to go to a club. The bouncer told us that the club was filled beyond capacity and he could not allow us. At the same time, he let a White guy enter. Ironically, the bouncer was Indian. This was interesting and took me back to colonial times. We still have a colonial hangover; if a White guy drinks, it is his culture but if an Indian drinks, he is considered uncouth and drunk! Before we point fingers at anybody, we need to look at ourselves. Racism is not about being racist towards a religion or race. People can also be racist towards their housekeeper, auto drivers, etc. It's there in all of us and the extent to which we express it, depends on us. What is Shella Allan's character in the film? She is playing an Australian girl in the film. She is a stripper. Neha and Arjan are siblings in the film and even this girl has a brother. I have drawn a parallel in the relationship of the siblings. The basic core of the sibling relationship, no matter what the nationality or how rigid their values, is the same. Most Bhatt films are love stories with backdrops inspired from real events. Tum Mile had the 26/11 floods as a backdrop but it was a love story. Is Crook like that?Crook is like how Kalyug was. In Kalyug, the porn industry was portrayed as dark and morbid. In actuality, it is quite exciting. Crook is more on those lines. It has shown Australian racism as it is but it is not a documentary. That has been done separately. I have not come to educate or provide information on racism in Australia because the news channels do a good job with it. I have come here to entertain people through my film. All Bhatt films and especially Emraan Hashmi's films have chart-busting music. How does that happen? We work very hard on our music. It is not that we are plain lucky with it. We know good music is one of the USPs of Bhatt films. Luckily, the directors who have joined the company, be it Kunal, Anurag, or me, have a ear for good music. We do not okay tunes till we are completely satisfied.Which other films are you working on?I am not somebody to do too many things at a time. I am busy with Crook till the 8th and then by the end of the year, I will start Murder 2.

Labels are not New to Me October 01, 2010 13:24

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai talks about Hindi movie Robot starring Rajnikanth. Robot’ is a highly technically advanced bilingual movie by filmmaker Shankar. But the director has made sure there is enough to entertain the common man, says Aishwarya. The actress says she chooses a film on the basis of her role as well as the director and the team. This is her second film with Shankar after “Jeans” (1998) and the actress maintains that the USP of Shankar’s filmmaking is the importance he gives to the common man. There could have been many draws to do Robot — the film’s concept, the guaranteed success of Rajinikanth’s films and the big cast. What worked for you?First, it was an opportunity to work with Shankar sir (director) again, after Jeans. There were a lot of beautiful ideas that we could have worked on, but my schedule didn’t permit it. When the opportunity came in the form of Robot, a film that is technically ahead of its time, I was more than happy. What is it about Shankar that you wanted to work with him again? The thing that I really like about Shankar is that he never forgets the common man, common man’s fantasy and what would be entertaining for the common man. He brings all this into his films.Films starring Rajinikanth often focus on him. Were you not apprehensive? When I work on a film, I am not myopic about my role. The film in totality matters. After Devdas, I have been on a trip wherein I want to experience movies. Some people found the pairing unusual.Rajni Sir did have a cute way of silencing a few people who had their doubts about our pairing. He did so at the music launch by making fun of himself. Honestly, as far as working with him is concerned, it was a pleasure and honour. You should be on the sets to see the level of commitment he transpires all around. He is a superstar and I am not talking about his stand in the industry. He is actually called ‘superstar’ on the sets. How do you feel when they say that you are the number one right now?I don't believe in numbers. In fact, I am here only to be called a good actress. Moreover, labels are not new to me. I was tagged a lot of things. Since I never considered any of them seriously, I don't think I will take this one seriously. It is part of the game. Were your good performances ignored in earlier film 'RAAVAN' because they fared badly at the box-office?That would happen if a film is not mounted well. But the audiences are wise enough to tell the difference. So they sometimes respond to a hit film, or return with a response to a performance, despite a film being a flop. I don't think a good performance ever goes unnoticed by the audience. Ash has two more films releasing this year – ‘Action Replayy’ releasing Nov 5, followed by ‘Guzaarish’ Nov 19.‘It has been exciting, the last two years, making these movies. Now it’s time to share our hard work with the audience. I enjoyed sharing ‘Ravan’ with my audience. And now I am excited to share ‘Robot’ with you all,’ she said.

I do Films for creatives September 26, 2010 12:26

Priyanka Chopra says, she has broken free of the glam doll image and joined the league of Bollywood stars who can perform."It's so difficult to make that transition when you're perceived to be glamorous... Even a glamorous role should be performance-oriented," Priyanka said in an interview with IANS.After the success of "Aitraaz", for which she received the Filmfare best villain award, Priyanka assures a string of interesting performances in her forthcoming films. She also promises an ad blitz. "I'll be seen in ads very shortly. I guess they were waiting to rope me in after I was successful," Priyanka says. But it's singing that Priyanka craves for. "That's my first love," she says.Q: Suddenly you're so hot!A: That's good, isn't it?Q: Are you proud of being designated the best villain?A: As long as I'm the best I don't mind. I was competing for the baddie's sweepstakes with Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgan and John Abraham. I'm very grateful that I was accepted as an actress rather than a man-eater.The character's sensuality came from little details that I worked out with the director. There were lots of arguments. I wanted the character to go one way. I didn't want to be part of a character that seemed undignified. Finally we worked out a compromise. She (the character) wasn't entirely the way I wanted her to be.Q: She's very predatory?A: Yeah, I wanted her to be like Sharon Stone in "Basic Instinct" or Demi Moore in "Disclosure", or Catherine Zeta-Jones in "Chicago". I did a lot of research on how women in charge behave. I was very scared. It took me a month to decide whether I wanted to do the role, and when I did I had to decide how to do it.Q: Like?A: In "Yakeen", I play a psychotic housewife. There's "Waqt" in which I am very much a part of the father-son conflict between Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar. In Suneel Darshan's "Barsaat" I play a small town girl for the first time. I've always been selective. I failed commercially in my earlier films because I was too inexperienced.Q: Do you think you can carry off something like Rani Mukherjee's role in "Black"?A: I don't know. It's one of the most awesome characters I've seen in films. There are two categories of actors. The trained ones like Karisma and the untrained ones like Kajol. And they're both equally competent. I don't know where I belong. I don't know whether I can pull off a "Black". Maybe I'm not experienced enough. But I do know I'll work hard on it.Q: Do you think your perception within the industry has changed?A: They've started seeing me as an actress rather than a glam doll. I'm grateful for that! It's so difficult to make that transition when you're perceived to be glamorous.I now have to be careful. This year I'm working in just two to three films. I want to focus on one film at a time. Even a glamorous role should be performance-oriented. You just have to make the right decisions. Beyond that I'm still considering other offers. I don't want to do a bunch of films that don't excite me.Q: Have you raised your price? A: I do films for creative satisfaction. I do stage concerts and ads for money. I'll be seen in ads very shortly. I guess they were waiting to rope me in after I was successful.Q: As long as you aren't selling gutka or nuclear bombs!A: Ha, never! I'm a socially responsible citizen.Q: And Lara Dutta?A: What about her? We're unnecessarily pitched against one another. I think Lara is a very hardworking girl. I've always looked up to her. I was just 17 when I was Miss India, I was a complete babe in the woods. She helped me a lot with my makeup and clothes.Q: And now you can advise other girls on their looks.A: My advice is to not wear make-up and lots of clothes, ha ha.Q: Any burning ambitions?A: To be a singer. That's my first love. Everyone thinks "Tinka tinka" in "Karam" is sung by me. Alisha sounds so much like me. I used to be a big fan of hers. And today she has sung for me.Q: Tell us about your Next Flick "Saat Khoon Maaf" ? Playing wife to seven hubbies and bumping them all off one by one is a role we rarely see Bollywood actresses in. But Vishal Bharadwaj, always striving for a greater milestone, is making Priyanka Chopra do exactly that in his on-the-floors movie Saat Khoon Maaf. While launching the denim brand Levi's Change your World campaign earlier this week, Priyanka told reporters: “It's too early to speak about Saat Khoon Maaf but it will be a very unique film for sure.” The movie is based on Ruskin Bond's story Susanna's Seven Husbands. Priyanka even had to turn down an offer from Hollywood for this film. “I can associate only with the film I am committed to and I was committed to Vishal Bharadwaj....” she said.

A science fiction movie ROBO September 24, 2010 09:51

With the combination of Sun Pictures, Rajnikanth and Shankar, expectation are rising high.  Now almost 85% of the film is over and shankar has started for the hunt of location for the next set of shooting.  We met him with few questions about Rajni, grandeur and technology. This is the 1st film in Tamil which is coming as a science fiction movie.  A scientist is creating a different robot. And the result whether its good thing, chaos and consequences is the result of the story.  We are just quoting many films like it is similar to hollywood , i just want to create according to our culture, to be precise according to our place but this would be on par with holly wood quotes Shankar. Is Rajinikanth a Robot? If i say everything now, i guess that suspense will go off.  Whatsoever you people imagine you want ENTHIRAN film to be, it will be beyond your imagination, with much grandeur is the truth. Because this film has taken so much of work from us.  You can see the effort which is to be taken for ten films in this one film. Rajni is such an amazing hero.  Unlike other heroes who just come, just act in the shot and then get back to caravan.  But Rajni sir will spend each and every minute with us he has taken so much efforts for this film.  Just words can’t describe his efforts.  It could be realised by all of you , when the film is released. You have tried to show Rajnikanth so young it seems?SIVAJI film is what you witnessed was just a sample. In this film, he will be shown so young. For his make up things, we just went to America and searched in many places but nothing came right. Then we just tried out some sort of new things here in india, but it just worked out perfectly and it was suited perfectly for his character. Normally, Kamal will only take efforts for make up things is what general opinion. But in this film Rajni has taken efforts is something amazing.Yes, it takes 3-4 hours for him to get ready after his make up.Till that he would be so patient and act amazingly. This make up will change his entire character…..Wait and watch………Aishwarya Rai?She is acting as a medical research student. How the love starts between Rajnikanth and her,t hen how the story moves on , we dont want to discuss about these now.Lets talk about it later. One of the general fact is that graphics is generally given importance to ur film….how aboutt this film?Ya, its obvious in this. This is a story about robot so graphics is much needed in this. But you wont realise that its graphics when you watch this film. It would be so realistic. Before the fim started , we had started preparing everything before one and half years. That is like how people used to do in hollywood , what we are going to shoot and how we are going to shoot was decided on before hand. We have created enitre Enthiran film, in wat place if we keep graphics it would be good and many things we had almost made a big research. Then think about our efforts.Whats the regular practise is that people generally finish the film and come towards graphics department. But when shooting is on going, we had a graphics team by our side. One of the team will always stay with us. So that considerable amount of time will be saved. What have you done technically?Technically, we have handled a special thing called as ANIMATRONICS. In Jurrasic Park dinosaur’s movements are like walking, running. In King Kong, monkeys movements are the technical things which are done using it.This is new to tamil cinema. But don’t enquire whether this is going to be similar movie to that of hollywood. Since we have decided that we should not make anything similar to that of nature and we have tried something which is really new. When people see our Enthiran and i don’t want them to say that this is “SIMILAR TO THIS MOVE, SIMILAR TO THAT MOVIE” sort of thing. We are so clear in that stance. So everything will be new in this movie. What about Songs?Compared to SIVAJI film, all the locations will be different and the sets will make everyone dumbstruck and amazed. 3 SONGS have been completed shooting. “PUDHIYA MANIDHA BOOMIKU VAA DA ” is the lyrics of the title song which is penned down by vairamuthu. Generally i dont compromise for any of my film and this is no exception to my list. Since the story is about robot , some suggestions had been got from vairamuthu’s son who is specialised in robotics. He has also penned down one song.Generally after doing big budget film, you will do films like Kadhalan, Boys, etc. What happened now?Ya.I have changed my tend after SIVAJI film. This story is entirely different to me. The script has changed. We decided the budget. Whatever it had demanded , we have really justified it in the film. I havent decided anything regarding my next film.

I can become very touchy September 18, 2010 12:31

Hi Pranita, Welcome to Tollywood ! Obviously, you must be excited. Yeah, very! I’m just so kicked about my projects. It’s been an awesome start and I can’t wait for things to come. Everything & everybody are so professional here. It just gives you a whole new perspective into how movies are made. You play the role of a village belle in ‘Bava’. Tell us something more about your role.My character’s called Varalakshmi. She is a very bubbly, fun-loving village belle. I had lots of fun doing it because it was a total new experience for me playing the part. I’ve been a city-bred girl all my life. So, doing stuff that I’ve never done before in my life like wearing langavonis, getting to see the jataras and all that jazz was pretty exciting. You’re paired with Siddarth, the chocolate boy of the Telugu industry…[She immediately interrupts] Yeah, that was one of the coolest things ever.I’ve always had a huge crush on Siddarth! When I first got the role,my friends went all J on me and were like, “Wow! You’re working with Siddarth”! But in spite of his image & superstar status, he is really friendly. He just has no hangups whatsoever. He always made me feel comfortable. He used to give me tips & suggestions and helped me out with my shots and stuff. And it’s just wonderful to see him in action. There are a lot of rumors surrounding you that you only want to work with big stars. Your comments…Okay, I don’t even know who came up with that. When I was working on Porki, all my dates and schedules were full. And I had a clause in my agreement that I wouldn’t sign other movies till Porkireleased. And this is exactly what I told people when I was approached. I just don’t understand how this got misinterpreted.Well, there’s no dearth of big stars here in the Telugu industry. Who would you like to work with next?[Laughs] Well, if I make a list now, you’ll say, “there, she made a list with only big stars in it”. And people are going to bitch about me. So I guess I’m going to pass. ButI look forward to working with veterans like Prakash Raj because I know I can learn a lot from just watching them. You must be happy with the way things are shaping up in your career… What’s it been like so far? It’s been real awesome so far.Touch wood. I got good reviews for my acting in Porki. I’ve been signed on by good banners, working with great technicians. That said,I’m having fun every bit of the way but at the same time, learning a lot which is important. Right now, I just want to concentrate on my work. Was it easier playing the village belle in 'Bava' or the glamorous role in 'Porki' ?Well, what if I said both weren’t easy.Because I’m neither of those in real life! I’m just a plain city girl. I’ve never been to villages. And neither am I the glamorous outgoing girl. That’s the wonderful thing about acting. It lets you play roles that are outside your personality. It’s tough but you learn to do it.Okay so how many takes do you usually get the shot right in?[Laughs] It doesn’t take too many, don’t worry.Movies are getting bolder lately. Would you do a kissing scene if required? Your take…The answer may sound clichéd but it really depends on the script & the kind of movie it is.Will you do a Murder if it comes your way? After all, it was a genre changer & look at where it put MallikaSherawat today*Definitely. I wouldn’t want to restrict myself to any roles and I want to try all kinds of genres out. There’s more to me than an image of a bubbly girl. And I want to break that mould. What will you look for in a script?Right now, since I’m just 2 movies old,I really am not in a position to choose. I’m just glad that I’m getting the right offers so far.
