Dressed in a simple off-white cotton Anarkali, shorn of make-up the very cute-looking Nithya Menon sits silently and waits for the audio release function of Ala Modalaindi to begin. One just cannot take their gaze off from her lovely curls and kohl-lined eyes. The Malayalam beauty's career happened by chance and not choice, she made her debut when she was just eight years old in an English film and Malayalam movie when she was seventeen. Even now she says her dream is to come up with a wildlife reserve or get into full-time photography. A graduate of journalism from Manipal University Nithya Menon says she had worked with many women directors, Nandini Reddy not withstanding. All of them had been brilliant, intelligent and sensitive and though she loved this current script she did it for emotional reasons. The director is her best friend. Nithya has sung two songs for this Telugu movie and even dubbed for it. She is modest and says that she didn't have to try too hard for it because she believes that singing, dancing, or acting et al skills are inborn. Her parents are okay with her doing films but her extended family is not too happy. Her granny wants her to marry and have a child. She says, "We are normal middle class conservative family and their attitude towards films is not right." She maintains that each film she had worked in is handpicked and she's proud of it, her criteria is to ensure working in projects that her parents are not embarrassed watching it. Has she seen any telugu film? Yes she has, her first Telugu film is Magadheera which she watched with her co-stars on the first day. She adds, "I enjoy watching such stuff but I don't see myself doing mass films where the heroine has nothing to do except looking good, glamorous because I can act. There are a lot of other people who cannot act and they can do those things." The plain-speaking actress says she doesn't watch too many films or idolize anyone. Simple, because movies are not her passion and she has no dreams related to it.

When the ‘beauty’ speaks! October 18, 2011 19:35

She is a most beautiful heroine in T – Town who has wooed the industry, with her beauty and performance, right in her first film. since then, till date, she had no looking back. She has bagged an opportunity that makes every other heroine jealous of her, acted opposite Mahesh in ‘Dookudu’ and once again enjoying the success with the film. let’s see what Samantha has to say more about the film and of course, Mahesh; About Mahesh! He is a Super Star. According to me, every heroine for that matter, every person who is in love with movies and stars would want to atleast take a pic with Mahesh. Even I wanted to. Like any other heroine, even I dreamt about acting opposite Mahesh. But, I have never expected that I would bag this opportunity so soon in my career. ‘Dookudu’ not only fulfilled my dream to act opposite Mahesh but also given us the biggest success. It feels on top of the world, when people recognize the hard work and make the film a success. As of now, I am enjoying the success of ‘Dookudu’ and cherishing the memories of my association with the entire cast and crew most importantly Mahesh. He is such a sweet heart. He is one such person, who is extremely passionate about Cinema. I am sure, right from the pre-production work, to the film’s release Mahesh would be continuously thinking about the film and nothing else. With him, I have learnt one advice for life time and that is treating every film as a first film. About the journey from ‘YMC’ to ‘Dookudu’ Technically, my first film ‘Em Maya Chesaave’ has established me as a heroine in this industry and lessoned my hard work to find out for opportunities. Right after that film, there was no looking back. I have done couple of movies in K – Town and in T – Town ‘Brindaavanam’ and ‘Dookudu’, till date. Today, when I look back and compare, I see myself as a more matured person, more learnt actress and a settled mind set of what roles to do and what not, what to perform in which jorner sequence, how to behave and how to plan the opportunities. I hope, this luck would continue for me here after as well. About the chemistry with Mahesh on screen I am happy that many complimented my chemistry with Mahesh in ‘Dookudu’ has worked out very well, particularly, in the sequences in first half. Major credit goes to Mahesh, for being so down to earth and having patience for me to get comfortable with him, understand the sequence, rehearse the same several times and then go for a final shot. Chemistry between the lead pair only comes out well, when both the actors jell well with each other. Both the lead pair should understand the timing and mind set of each other. I am happy that all this have become possible and even I had a role to play in the film like ‘Dookudu’ that features a Super Star like Mahesh. About SeenuVytla What else can an upcoming heroine like me would ask for. An opportunity to act opposite Mahesh and a film to work under the direction of most entertaining director of Telugu Cinema, SeenuVytla Sir. He is a amazing person. When you see him in the shooting location, he would appear as a serious person, always indulged in some writing or sequence narration. But, the way he narrates the sequences, the way he brings the best entertainer in every artist and the way he plans the timings in the sequences are a highlight. He knows the pulse of the audience. He knows what he wants from each and every bit of the sequence. It is not only me, but Mahesh, Prakash Raj Sir, BramhananadamGaru, SonuSood, Nassar Sir, M.S. Narayanaji, everyone had their set of role to play in the film, which is a very important aspect to be noted. I am glad that I am getting films to work with most talented directors like GautamMenon Sir, Vamsi, and SeenuVytla Sir. About the importance of the role It is not that I am not aware about my role and the duration I would be seen in the film. I already know that it is the father – son film. However, the entire first half focuses on me along with Mahesh. I am happy to be a part of such a big project, that featured every big Actor and I have recognition in such a film. This is more than enough for me. I suppose all you guys have been bored seeing only me in my previous films, in almost every frame. Now, this can be a changeover (laughs). But, I am super excited about the amount of roles I am playing in my future projects that would be a feast to my fans for sure. About the music Thaman has given some amazing numbers in the film. I like each and every track. My favorite among the songs would be ‘Dekthadi’ and ‘Chulbuli’. Unlike my earlier films, I had a lot of dance sequences in this film. I am falling in love with dance now. Here after, you can see me doing more of dance sequences, in my upcoming films. Once again, thanks one and all for liking ‘Dookudu’ and wish you all would watch the film, again and again in theaters!
