Law Amended: Death Sentence for Rape of Minors:- With the growing menace of child abuse, the Centre approved the amendments in the Posco Act which includes the death penalty for the culprits who sexually assault children. Along with this, stringent punishments will be awarded for other crimes against children. The amendments were approved during the recent Union cabinet meeting. The cabinet also cleared a bill providing a mechanism for social, economic and educational empowerment of transgenders by defining their identity and rights.

All the proposed changes will be implemented in the protection of children from sexual offenses act which also provides fines and imprisonment. The act also curbs child pornography. This law modification will address the need of strict measures and actions against assaulting children sexually. The society is left worried with the rise in incidents of child sex abuse across the country. These crimes are a threat to the society and hence Centre decided to amend the laws and implement them at the earliest.
