CBI Vs CBI Case: Supreme Court Slams Centre For Removal Of CBI Director:- A three-judge Supreme Court Bench led by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi pronounced their verdict on CBI issue and slammed the Centre for removing Alok Verma as the CBI Director. The apex court ordered the government to reinstate him in his position as the Director of CBI. The decision came in favour of Alok Verma who filed a petition last year. The Congress has welcomed the Supreme Court order "lambasting" the government.

The select committee that comprises of Prime Minister of India, the Chief Justice of India and the Leader of the Opposition will meet in a week to decide if there is any action to be taken against CBI Director Alok Verma. In this while, Alok Verma has been asked not to take any crucial decisions until the select committee meets and decides his fate. Alok Verma has been forced to go on a leave three months ago after which Verma challenged the Centre's decision in Supreme Court.
