Kolkata's Majerhat Bridge Collapsed: One Dead And 21 Injured:- The famous Majerhat Bridge which remains crowded all the time in Kolkata collapsed last evening at 4.45 PM during the peak hours. One person lost his life while 21 people have been injured in this incident. Majerhat Bridge is over 50 years old which is built on the Diamond Harbour Road in south side of Kolkata. Several people have been trapped and several vehicles have been crushed after Majerhat Bridge collapsed. All the injured have been rushed to the hospital and are recovering well. Four NDRF teams rushed to the spot and the rescue operations continued the whole night.

Several survivors described the moment tragic explaining about the shattering incident. A committee headed by chief secretary Moloy De will probe the collapse of the Majerhat bridge informed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who was in Darjeeling when the incident took place. Several local people turned out to be the helping hand by rushing to the spot and helping in the rescue operation. The opposition parties in the state demanded an explanation from the Government. They said that the old bridges are not being repaired which led the Majerhat Bridge collapse.
