Sterlite Moves To Madras High Court To Restore Power Supply:- The General Manager of the legal department of Vedanta Group filed an 18-page petition with the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court. The Government owned trucks started removing the sulphuric leakages from the Vedanta owned Sterlite in Thootikudi, Vedanta approached High Court. 13 civilians have been killed in the protests on May 22nd and the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board issued directions to close the unit and the Sterlite plant has been closed on May 28th.

Sulphuric acid leaks have been discovered after which the government asked the service trucks to remove the discharge. Vedanta filed a petition for permissions to access the plant and undertake the maintenance work. Sterlite in their petition requested to direct the government to allow minimum man power for regular maintenance of the plant. Sterlite urged the government through the court to re-consider their decision.
