India's First Pod Taxi Project On Its Way

India's First Pod Taxi Project On Its Way:- The country's first pod taxi project is soon turning reality and it moved a step closer. A high level panel recommended inviting new and fresh bids for the project. As prescribed by an American body, the project would be on the lines of strictest safety standards. Named Personal Rapid Transit (PRT), the project has been estimated to be made on a budget of Rs 4000 crores. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has been keen on the project from some time. The pilot project has been planned to be executed between Delhi and Gurgaon which will be extended for 12.3 kms.

PRT will be made on public and private partnership basis and a five-member committee has been setup for the technical and safety standards of PRT. The committee headed by transport expert SK Dharamdhikari.Automated electric pod cars will be used informed a source. It will be taken on design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis and will be operated till Sohna Road, Gurgaon. More updates to be revealed soon.
