Rahul Gandhi Takes Charge As Congress President:- Rahul Gandhi moved toward becoming Congress president today, supplanting his mother Sonia Gandhi and assuming the responsibility of India's most established party after what many depict as the longest-ever political apprenticeship. At a function hung on the yards of the party's 24 Akbar Road Headquarters in Delhi, the 47-year-old acknowledged a declaration for his advancement, viewed by Sonia Gandhi and previous leader Manmohan Singh on the stage and more youthful sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the crowd.

"Congress took India to 21st century, yet the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) is taking us in reverse, to medieval circumstances, where people are being butchered in view of their identity, beaten for what they accept and slaughtered for what they eat," Rahul Gandhi stated, assaulting PM Modi and the legislature in his first discourse as Congress manager.

Sonia Gandhi, who led the party for a long time, said in an emotional farewell: "I was scared when I assumed control over the Congress 20 years back, my hands were shaking. I didn't know how I would oversee; I had no political experience."

Be Rahul, she stated, was more grounded. "Rahul is my son, and it would not be right for me to applaud him.
