Another Setback For Metro Rail In Andhra Pradesh:- The metro rail project in Vijayawada has been facing tough times and here comes another major setback for the metro rail project in the state. While the Central government did not find it appropriate to fund the project, now the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been cancelled between Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation (AMRC) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). It happened when AMRC refused to pay Rs 75 crores for the capital expenditure to the DMRC. The former took a call as there has been no progress in the project.

The Vijayawada Metro Rail project has been announced in June 2014 and German Development Bank Kfw stepped forward to fund the project. AMRC Managing Director NP Ramakrishna Reddy announced that the Union government was not in a mood to approve any mass rapid system. It was in May 2017, the Union Finance Ministry rejected the Vijayawada Metro Rail project and it stated that the project was not found financially viable for the board.
