TS Single Woman Pension Scheme Gets Good Response

The single woman pension scheme introduced by the Telangana State is getting a good response.

The state government has asked theĀ single women to submit the applications from May 8. The applications are being accepted in all Mee Seva Centres, MRO and DRDO offices. The number of applications filed touched the 50,000 mark, within three days. And before the deadline of May 13 is reached, the officials expect the number to cross the 3 lakh mark. A pension of Rs 1000 every month will be given to the single women, that will be credited directly in the bank account of the beneficiary.

Furthermore, the officials have been directed by the government to take up the verification process of the applicants from May 15. Special teams have to be formed to scrutinize the applications and take up ground-level inspection to identify the beneficiaries, said TRS Minister Jupally Krishna Rao.

According to the intensive household survey conducted by the state government in the previous year, there were around 2.4 lakh single women in 2014. The orders sanctioning Rs 300 crore to pay the pension to single women for the remaining months of this fiscal from June 2017 to March 2018, were issued by the government.

When the scheme is officially launched on June 2, i.e. on the Telangana State formation day, the amount for April and May will be paid. The officials have been directed to finalize the list of beneficiaries and open the bank accounts for all of them by May 25. Instructions have been further issued not to disburse the amount in cash.
