IAS Officer Chandrakala To Head Swacch Bharat Mission

IAS officer B Chandrakala has been appointed as the Director of  “Swacch Bharat Mission” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet project.

The UP cadre official, is the youngest official to be selected in Modi’s dream team, created by the Union Government recently.

Additionally, she will also be in charge of Deputy Secretary in the Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.

The 2008-IAS batch officer, born on September 27, 1979, hails from Telangana.

Recently, the Centre has lauded her initiatives, to make Bijnor an ‘open defecation free’ (ODF) district in the country.

Chandrakala has earned a lot of praise on social media after she publicly pulled up civic officials and contractors for sub-standard road construction in 2014.

She is well-known for taking a tough stand against corruption practices.

Chandrakala, has even been associated with ‘Clean India’ campaign’ when she was the District Magistrate of Bulandshahr, Bijnor and Meerut.

The appointment of the IAS officer, in Delhi came less than a week after Yogi Adityanath was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Chandrakala, completed her graduation in economics from Osmania University in Hyderabad.
